Derrick Wyatt has posted yet another comment over on his message board regarding Transformers Animated series 3 as well as what influences the Transformers Animated staff. You can find a quote below.
"My influences are some of the things mentioned above, mixed with a
heavy dose of 80's cartoons (Mighty Orbots and others), Hanna Barbera,
2000AD comics, anything Gainax does, Robert Valley and Jamie Hewlett,
the list goes on and on. For the design of the new TFA series, I wanted
to get back to basics with the Transformers, while splicing in some of
that Orbots and ABC Warriors look and feel. It's also been my scheme
all along to get new toys made of my old favorite Transformers.
TriBlurr,
I think your Beachcomber is pretty close to what we did. I kept his
face Smurfy-blue, and colored him all blue from the waste down, so he
looks like he's wearing pants and no shoes. Get a job, Beachcomber, you
worthless slacker!
The twins jet modes might have a little old school sci-fi tv inspiration in them, yes.
Wow,
the Sailor Moon fans are out in force! Sailor Moon probably influenced
at least every female crew member that works on Transformers Animated.
I'm not sure how much of that ends up in the show. Do you have a
specific example of what you think it was influential in?
Blackout is the ANIMATED Blackout. Spittor does have a bot mode. Into space. No hints on Sari."
Derrick Wyatt has posted another response over on his blog in relation to the Jetfire and Jetstorm toys being leaked as well as the images that were leaked yesterday by S250 (52toys.com).
Regarding Jetfire and Jetstorm Derrick's latest comment was:
Hmm. It's sort of their combined mode, I guess. From the early pics I saw the rear of the combined vehicle is supposed to be split to make an "X" shape. It cuts a way better silhouette that way. And yes, the twins will be in season 3.
Regarding the leaked images of Rodimus Prime, Strika, Spittor and Blackout Derrick commented with
Ugh. I hate leaks. They always have the
worst quality images. Not even any color! Oh well. Maybe you can see
that Spittor's Cybertronian vehicle form is inspired by Don Figueroa's
totally freaking awesome BW comic pre-beast Spittor design. And General
Strika! Chalk up another personal Transformers life goal for yours
truly!
S250 has updated his website with some character design images of Season 3 Transformers Animated characters. The images of Rodimus, Strika, Blackout and Spittor can be viewed below.

Derrick Wyatt has posted a comment on his blog regarding the Transformers Animated Jetfire and Jetstorm toys of which the first images recently hit the internet. Reaction to the toys has been pretty poor through the fan community thus far and so Derricks comments might change a few opinions or at least add to the opinions.
"I wouldn't rush to judgment on the Jetfire and Jetstorm figures yet.
Those are some pretty terrible pictures that are out there right now.
The pictures I saw way back of the grey prototypes looked really good.
And yes, of course they have hands! In both robot modes! The promo pics
are just mistransformed. Once they are properly transformed and posed
out, they should look pretty cool."
BigBadToyStore and Entertainment Earth have both updated their websites with the first images of the upcoming Transformers Animated toys for Jetfire and Jetstorm. You can view the mirrored images below.

TFW2005.com member Red Leader has posted an image and information of some Transformers Animated 2-packs, containing two carded bubble-pack toys The Transformers Animated toys in the stock list which he received were Prowl and Megatron (Cybertronian Mode) in one set and Blackarachnia and Optimus Prime (Earth Mode) in the second set.
Transformers Animated Deluxe Megatron and Optimus Prime were previously only available in the Battle in a Box 2-pack of the battle damaged figures.Derrick Wyatt has replied to a question raised ourselves in response to another question by Perceptor of Unicron.com regarding the Transformers Animated season three rumours that they received. Derrick replied with the following to Perceptors question
"Perceptor@unicron.com's question is a good one! I've been trying to think of a way to answer without unleashing a mess of spoilers. But, I haven't figured out how to do it yet".
To which we followed up with "guess we can take that as at least some of it is true, otherwise it would be an easy debunking answer". In response to our question Derrick replied with "Yes, you are right. In Perceptor's comments, one bit is true. One part is confused (probably by a person seeing a design and making assumptions). One is just flat out wrong.".
So there you go, one part is wrong, one is confused and one right. For those who can not remember the post at Unicron.com here it is again
"* Yes, there will be a season 3, Transformers Animated.
* (at least some) Episodes have been recorded.
* Transformers Animated Season 3 will begin with a multi-part episode.
* As of now (subject to change) it is scheduled to air, "next spring."

For those of you who don’t know, Bob Forward and Larry DiTillio were
the Executive Story Editors and storywriters (in my opinion) largely
responsible for the popularity of the Beast Wars Transformers cartoon
series. For this forthcoming Transformers Animated episode, they share
credit on story and script. It is the first time they have worked
together since Beast Wars. The episode title (subject to change) is:
PREDACONS RISINGWe have been told, it should be a surprise treat for all Beast Wars Fans."
Hasbro have updated their Monkey Bar TV website with another exclusive Transformers Animated clip, this time featuring Prowl practicing an Evel Knievel type stunt.
Derrick Wyatt has posted another comment on his blog, this time in regards to the Cybertronian modes for the Decepticons, or rather the lack thereof. "Megatron is the only one of the main five Decepticons a Cybertron vehicle mode was designed for. We have Cybertron vehicle designs for all five of the main Autobots"
TFW are reporting that Transformers Animated Ultra Magnus is now out at retail stores. The figure has been spotted in California so as you may have expected, you can find even more on ebay now.

Transformers Animated Art Director/Lead Character Designer Derrick Wyatt has posted some comments on his blog relating to the current rumours regarding Season 3 of Transformers Animated.
"A quick note about Rodimus, Cyclonus and season 3 in general. Take everything you guys are reading on the boards with a grain of salt. ALL the people posting spoilers that I have read so far have been putting up inaccurate info. Some WAY off. Even those with Hasbro connections and posters who have been a good source of information in the past seem to have gotten some REALLY bad info."
