Combiner Wars Animated Series press release
“The Transformers are coming to Machinima.
Hasbro, the toy company-now-play brand, has partnered with the online gamer and video platform to produce a new animated series based on its Transformers: Combiner Wars line.
Combiner Wars is a storyline that has been playing out across Hasbro’s toys and IDW comic books for the past year and the upcoming Activision video game Transformers: Devastation.
Insiders say it’s the first time these many synergistic elements have been combined by Hasbro to tell an overall story.
Additionally, Habsro is giving something a segment of its large Transformers audience has been demanding for years, namely an animated series aimed at an older audience.
“Our audiences are huge fans of the toy, comics, movies and video games, and for us to continue the legend with the Combiner War is a unique story-telling opportunity,” said CCA Daniel Tibbets.
Said Hasbro’s senior vp of the Transformers franchise, Tom Warner: “(Machinima is) the perfect partner to help launch a totally new kind of Transformers animation—one that, for the first time ever, is specifically designed for the teen and adult fans who’ve grown up loving the Transformers brand.”
Without going to deep into the complexities of the Transformers universe, Combiner Wars saw groups of Transformers be able to combine into one giant robot, known as a Combiner. Superion and Menasor were among the new robots that held the fate of the Transformers’ homeworld Cybertron in their hands.”

Thanks to Seibertron for reporting that that Harmony Gold, the producers of the Robotech brand, have filed a lawsuit against Hasbro Inc over the recent SDCC 2013 Jetfire / Hound boxset stating that the Skystriker infringes on their Robotech IP. The original document can be found here. It is unlikely that the suit will succeed, but other than stopping the sale of the figures and the usual compensation, the suit also requests a recall from any persons or entity who purchased or received the figure.

Since we are in the UK and are simply two brothers maintaining this site whilst working, we have no means to be able to be out at SDCC in person, sadly, so instead here are some links to Seibertron.com, TFW2005.com and TheAllspark.com's coverage of the event.

latimes.com have the scoop on the SDCC exclusive Transformers figures which are bound to leave some fans disappointed. This years offering see's three sets of figures. The first is a tribute set to Generation 1 with a release of "Titan Guardians action figures" which are non-transformable versions of G1 Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave and Grimlock. Think ActionMaster but with less articulation. Next up is a Transformers Prime Beast Hunters offering in the form of "Shockwave's Lab". The set consists of Shockwave a legends class transparent Predaking and his "cloning chamber". Finally, the third release is the figure which has been expected for some time in the form of Titan Class Metroplex with two guns and chromed legs. Whether this release will be convince fans especially with the 3rd party Six-Gun set on the way remains to be seen.
The images havw been mirrored after the jump
