Toys R Us is celebrating its 25th annniversary within the UK this year and as a part of the celebration they have compiled a list of the Top Selling toys in Toys R Us stores for the last 25 years starting with Optimus Prime back in 1985.
Mike Coogan, Toys R Us marketing director, commented: "While technology is now more popular than ever before with children, customers who have been with us for the full 25 years will start to recognise some toys which are making a comeback.
Back in the eighties all the kids wanted to own the Transformers robots, and while they died out during the nineties, they are hugely popular once again due to the 2007 movie which was based on the original series.". Another Gold Transformers Animated Optimus Prime has been listed on eBay. This is the 2nd auction in as many days from TheCrowGirl and has a Buy It Now price of $448 more than yesterdays auction which sold for $398. This is the 14th figure that we know of.
The toys were suppose to have been limited to 1000 yet they are packed in cases of 12. This means 84 cases would make 1008 toy. Therefore there will certainly not be 1000 of these toys, and its perfectly plausible that 100 cases may have been made making the toy limited to 1200 pieces.
The original campaign was run by TakaraTomy in association with Sega and Mountain Rose with 1000 names being draw at random to receive the figures with the campaign running between the 18th August and 30th September 2010.

KOToys.com have gotten their hands on some of the TakaraTomy Transformers Animated Lucky Draw Gold Deluxe Optimus Prime figures and have posted a mini gallery over on their message board. The toy is 100% legit and will be given out to 1000 winners at the end of this month, though a 12 of the toys (they are packed 12 to a case) have found their way to KOtoys. Oh and yes, you read that right 12 to a case, so that means that there will certainly not be 1000 of the items since its not a multiple of 12.

Seibertron.com have been sent a poor quality image of what appears to be a clear coloured Transformers Movie Voyager Optimus Prime. There is no word on the exact source of the figure which could easily be a fake / knock-off. The image originally contained a watermark that would have identified the source, if you recognise the only part of this mark that is left, let us know. It would be odd to see the 07 figure re-released, but with the recent Sons of Cybertron sets, it is possible.
More on this as it develops

We are proud to be able to bring you a full image gallery of our latest Transformers figure, the incredibly long titled Toy Hobby Market exclusive Welcome to Transformers 2010 Masterpiece Convoy Sleep Mode (phew, what a mouthful).
This toy is the first offering in the Welcome to Transformers 2010 commemorative line that will also include a new Unicron figure and Masterpiece Rodimus. The figure were limited to a maximum of 2 per postal address and were only available to Japanese residents. We managed to order four (don't ask) and will have two for sale at Auto Assembly 2010 for £250 each. They will go on sale at somepoint over the weekend on a first come, first served basis. We also have some Unicron's on order that will be coming directly from Toy Hobby Market later in the year, so stay with us for more on those.
Back to Convoy Sleep Mode, one of the first things you will notice is that the toy comes in a rather special packing box that contains not only the Welcome to Transformers 2010 logo on the outside but a special message when you first open the box up. You'll have to take a look at the images to find out what it says, but we suggest that anyone picking up the figure should try to get and keep these boxes as they may well become collectible in the future. The toy itself contains a profile card which tells you which piece number (the figure is limited to 2010 pieces) you own, which is a nice addition.
For those who thought that the toy was just grey you were mistaken. He is actually a very dark red/brown on the chest with a very dark blue head and legs. The gallery contains comparison with the e-Hobby exclusive Convoy Black version, the original Japanese Masterpiece Convoy, MP Ultra Magnus and the Western release 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime figure.
