Operation: Third Party Appearance – Maketoys & Fans Project
TFNation is extremely pleased to announce that, in partnership with Kapow Toys, TFNation 2016 will see the first in-person appearance by a Third Party toy company! Maketoys shall be making their European convention debut at TFNation 2016 to not only provide a product display of existing and up-coming releases, but to also give you an opportunity to purchase many of the figures and speak directly to the company.
Founded in 2011, Maketoys are the Third Party company behind such incredible figures as Giant (Devastator), Hellfire (Inferno) and the more recent Citybots line. Maketoys have crossed into a variety of sublines which includes Microbots, Mobine Series, Manga Mech Series (based on the IDW comics) and the Battle Tanker Series – based on the Generation Two Laser Rod Optimus Prime. Within the world of combiners their MTCombiner series has produced Giant (Devastator in both green and yellow variants), Quantron (Computron) and Guardia (Defensor), while the RE:Master Series focuses on Masterpiece-style figures. Arguably their Citybots line has blown fans away with the impressive Utopia (Metroplex), Dystopia (Metrotitan) and Pandinus (Scorponok), making Maketoys the talk of the Third Party world.
As amazing as it is to announce the first ever European appearance of a Third Party company, TFNation isn’t stopping there. Joining Maketoys at TFNation 2016 will be FansProject, the company behind the fantastic Lost Exo Realm figures, based on the Japanese exclusive Pretender combiner Dinoforce figures - complete with limited edition shells!
Originating in 2007 with the Cliffjumper add-on set, FansProject became best known for their stylised Warbot line. Then they then shook the Transformers community when they released the Retro-Future series featuring the might Glacialord. These figures were designed to look like a Generation One combiner with superb ‘80s aesthetics, complete with fake box damage, and is (to date) something that no other company has tried. From triple changers, through gestalt combiners, Headmasters and Pretenders, FansProject were one of the first companies to produce Third Party Transformers figures and they have continued to stay relevant and in demand.
FansProject shall be offering product for sale along with showcasing existing and future products and we are extremely pleased to welcome them to TFNation 2016.
TFNation would like to thank the folk at Kapow Toys who have helped make this possible.

As you would have noticed, our regulary posting on the Moon hasn't been that regular in a long-time, and our focus on TheVisionaries.net has also slowed in recent months. The basic reason is work and life getting in the way. We recently bought a second light tent and are hoping to get back to taking more (regular or semi-regular) pictures soon (once work goes back to just 5 days a week).
Anyway the reason for that introduction is that we missed quiet a bit of 3rd Party news this week ... so here's a roundup.
3rd Party Masterpiece Hound
Like buses you wait for one, and two come along at once. Both MakeToys and TFCToys have shown off grey prorotypes of their Not-Masterpiece Hound figure, so you can substitute their Hound in place of the one Takara-Tomy haven't made ... yet
- MakeToys
Name; Gun Dog
Height: 16.5 CM / 6 1/2 inches
Notes: Has two robot modes (pretty much the shoulder postions) for "Classic G1 Look" and "Modern Classic Look"
- TFC Toys
Name: Detective
Height: Unknown
Notes: Less G1 toy accurate
3rd Party Masterpiece Chromdome
MakeToys' entrerance into the Masterpiece Class of Transformers figures doesn't stop with Gun Dog (Hound) as they have also announced a nive looking Masterpiece Chromedome. The character, made popular by Nick Roche and James Roberts in the Transformers More Than Meets The Eye comic certainly looks nice.
- Maketoys
- Name: Cupola
Height: 22 CM / 9 inches
Notes: Comes with his Headmaster figure (Stylor in the West)

Maketoys have now shown off offiical, coloured, images of their Utopia figure (theie take on Metroplex) with word that this is the first in a line of "City Transformers"
The toy is shapped more like the original Metroplex figure compared to the latest release from Hasbro / TakaraTomy, though in many ways this one looks more basic in base and battle station mode.
You can see a lot more images by visiting the Maketoys website, but we've mirrored each mode below for you to see.

A member of TFW2005.com has posted a scan of an image which came with the MakeToys Giant Giftset of Mobain, their PowerCore Combiner Addon in the form of The Fallen.
I'll have to admit, personally, The Fallen means nothing to me, as i've not read any of the IDW comics and I never really got into the Dreamwave War Within stories, but the toy looks pretty nice anyway.
