In an interview with the website SlashFilm, Michael Bay as confirmed that Transformers: Age Of Extinction, the 4th live action movie, will be the first film to be shot in full with IMAX digital 3D cameras. Below you will find an extract from the article that relates to TF:AOE.

Up until now, every feature film shot in full IMAX (of which there have been only a handful – The Dark Knight, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, The Dark Knight Rises, Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, Star Trek Into Darkness and now The Hunger Games Catching Fire) has filmed with a 65mm 2D IMAX film camera. IMAX has a 3D film camera available, but most filmmakers find it too big and loud to actually use. (Star Trek Into Darkness is the only of those films to be exhibited in IMAX 3D, but it was post-converted.) It wasn’t until recently that IMAX created a 3D digital camera, which will allow 3D capture in full IMAX. The first filmmaker to use that is Michael Bay on Transformers: Age of Extinction. That camera is much smaller and lighter than the other IMAX 3D cameras and will be used quite a bit in the future. There is no 2D digital IMAX camera, but one is being developed. [The 3D digital camera] offers the full height aspect ratio. Our camera is based on a digital camera called Phantom. It’s a 3D camera, so we used two of their sensors and the reason we picked them was they were the closest sensor size to IMAX film frames. They’re not quite as big as IMAX film frames, but they are very close. They allow us to use the same lenses that we developed for our 3D film camera, which is much bigger and heavier. This 3D digital camera is very light and compact and easy to use.

In a BIG gesture to international fans Nelson, admin of Michael Bay's website and forum, is selling the Walmart exclusive release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen to International Transformers fans!  However you can only order a copy if you live within one of the following countries:-

UK fans will probably ask why.  Why are they being excluded when Ireland is being included within the list?  Well the answer is probably a simple one ... Walmart owns ASDA, therefore the DVD is likely to be released within the UK, at some-point as an ASDA exclusive.  However we have been, as yet, unable to have this officially confirmed by either ASDA or Paramount Pictures but we are working on it.

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen is proving to be a sell out already.  Not only are the UK iMax screenings sold out for a lot of the showings but across America hundreds of the midnight showings are already sold out (report Fandango).  Here's some more facts

• Sold-out midnight show times (on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning) can be found all across the U.S.A., in cities such as New York, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Albuquerque, Denver, Houston, Nashville, Orlando, Colorado Springs, Tulsa, Fresno and Buford, Georgia.
• Exhibitors are continuing to add 3:45 a.m. or 4:00 a.m. show times on Wednesday morning to meet the fan demand.
• Currently, the film is selling twice as many tickets on Fandango as the original Transformers sold at the same point in that film’s sales cycle (two days before release date).
• The movie currently represents 87% of today’s ticket sales
• And as we noted yesterday, TF 2 showings at 500+ theaters in China are sold out 1.5 weeks in advanced.

Last night with my crew I saw the IMAX version. Once you get used to the giant format and your eyes adjust, it's an awesome experience. I have been waiting until the film was final to judge, and I'm really pleased. You have to make a point to see it this way - It could be the very best way to see Transformers.

C'mon guys critics? Give me a break. Do you all have short term memory? They killed the first one, and it still became a world-wide smash. I made this for the you, the audience!
