Press Release
Hero Collector and Hasbro Join Forces
To Bring Transformers Chess To Kickstarter
(London, UK – 13 August, 2021) Hero Collector – award-winning designers and publishers of high-quality collectibles from across the worlds of pop culture – is joining forces with Hasbro to launch their first ever Kickstarter campaign: an all-new Transformers Chess Set!
This epic chess set will feature 32 unique game pieces – 16 for the heroic Autobots and 16 for the villainous Decepticons – created specifically for the Kickstarter and modelled on the classic 1980s Generation One (G1) Transformers animated cartoon! Each model is digitally sculpted, then cast in metallic resin and painted by hand. The sculpts, which show the Transformers in their robot form, were developed with Hasbro and are based on the original animation designs and careful study of the animated series.
Standing 4-6” tall on a base marked with the symbol for the relevant chess piece, these robotic warriors will wage war on an exclusive Cybertron-themed chess board, with color-coded symbols in Autobot red or Decepticon purple. These two warring factions include such iconic characters as:
-
Autobot King: Optimus Prime. The beloved commander of the Autobots, Optimus Prime championed freedom in countless clashes across Cybertron – and Earth, where he adopted his famous truck alternate mode.
-
Autobot Knight: Hot Rod. A young and brash Autobot with a race car alt-mode, Hot Rod eventually grew to lead the Autobots – as Rodimus Prime!
-
Autobot Pawn: Bumblebee. The heart of the Autobots, Bumblebee was quick to befriend their human allies in his iconic yellow beetle alt-mode.
-
Autobot Pawn: Prowl. The surly strategist of the Autobots, Prowl’s police car alt-mode suited his no-nonsense personality.
-
Decepticon King: Megatron. The feared leader and founder of the Decepticons, and the eternal nemesis of Optimus Prime, Megatron sought nothing less than complete iron-fisted domination of Cybertron!
-
Decepticon Queen: Starscream. The scheming second-in-command of the Decepticons, Starscream constantly plotted to overthrow Megatron.
-
Decepticon Knight: Soundwave. The loyal comms officer of the Decepticons, Soundwave gathered intelligence using his trio of cassette-minions.
-
Decepticon Knight: Shockwave. The ops commander of the Decepticons, Shockwave’s cold logic and laser-turret mode made him a deadly threat.
This Kickstarter launches on 13 August, 2021 – with a delivery date of Q4 2022. A variety of backer gifts are planned for fans who want to go the distance in bringing this game to life – including a Transformers pin badge, Transformers profile book, and more exclusive Gen-1 chess pieces!
Fans and collectors should stay tuned for further information, such as the full roster of characters and details of stretch goals. You can visit the page now at herocollector.com/transformerschess

Thanks to Issuu some images of the Platinum Edition re-issues of Generation One Astrotrain and Blitzwing have emerged. The colours are quiet bizarre, with Blitzwing looking like he made be bsaed of the Duocon Flywheels, and Astrotrain a little like Alpha Bravo (kinda)

In a follow-up to the news we bought you yesterday afternoon regarding Hyper Hobby Feb 2011 containing an article and images of a newly unearthed Generation One Prototype of Rodimus Convoy that TakaraTomy recently found in a warehouse, we can now bring you some low resolution images thanks to Masabon from TFW2005.com. The figure is actually a hardcopy and is significantly taller than the released version. According to the text this was the original Rodimus toy that was designed by Takara but the toy was nixed by Hasbro in favour of a smaller, cheaper version that was eventually released.
We will keep our eyes out for higher resolution scans, and if we find them we will let you know.

Auto Assembly 2009 is just over four weeks away and is on course to set a new European attendance record from pre-registrations alone! However, as the date of the convention is closing fast, we felt that it was time to remind all of you who haven't already booked that you need to hurry if you haven't so you can get your tickets in advance so you don't have to worry about coming along and paying on the day...
We have now set the cut-off dates for pre-registrations so you can plan out when you will need to get your registrations in to us. The dates that your bookings MUST reach us are as follows:
Standard online bookings for weekend and one-day passes (UK):- 10th August 2009
Standard online bookings for weekend and one-day passes (International):- 3rd August 2009
Standard postal bookings for weekend and one-day passes (UK):- 5th August 2009
Standard postal bookings for weekend and one-day passes (International):- 3rd August 2009
Non-Attendee package purchases (worldwide):- 9:00 pm, 12th August 2009
Please note that these are the ABSOLUTE latest date that we can accept bookings and guarantee that your passes will reach you in time for the convention. If you book after these dates, we will do everything possible to get your passes to you before the convention takes place but please bear in mind the time taken for delivery and that we will have work pressures and we will be preparing, dismantling and packing all of our equipment for the convention on Wednesday 12th August so NO bookings will be able to be processed after 9:00 pm on that date.
We do anticipate that we will have on-the-door places available but at the moment we do not know how many of these there will be. These will be announced on the website once pre-bookings close but to ensure your place pre-registration is recommended.
We have now uploaded a full programme onto the website so you can see what will be taking place over the weekend on each day so you can see the benefits of attending for the full weekend and what you will miss if you only attend for the single day. We are still adding more though so this is still not a comprehensive list! We are also still in talks with up to SIX more guests and should be announcing more soon...!
Our current batch of single day tickets for the Saturday have almost sold out although we do have plenty of Sunday and Full Weekend passes available, along with Non-Attendee packages if you are unable to join us. To purchase your non-attendee package or tickets, visit the Auto Asembly website NOW! Non-attendee packages are for UK attendees, full weekend tickets are £45 for adults and £35 for children/students/senior citizens with under 5s being FREE. Family tickets (2 adults and 2 children) are just £145 saving £15. Limited numbers of single day passes are also available starting from £18. Don't miss out on your chance to be a part of what is going to be a great weekend celebrating 25 years of the Transformers!!

After weeks of speculation, Europe's largest Transformers convention Auto Assembly 2009, is proud to announce it's second voice actor for it's convention taking place over the weekend of 15th-16th August 2009...
Joining our first voice actor, Ian James Corlett (the voice of Cheetor from Beast Wars and Beast Machines) will ne none other than Gregg Berger, the voice of Grimlock and Skyfire and a host of other characters from G1!! Fans have been asking us for several years to bring Gregg over to the UK to appear at an Auto Assembly convention and we are excited to be able to make this a reality in the 25th Anniversary year of Transformers!
Gregg will be actively involved with the convention all weekend and for those of you who aren't sure about whether to book for the weekend or wait until we release single day tickets, when you find out what Gregg will be doing, you won't want to miss out on the full weekend! As well as signing autographs for fans all weekend, Gregg will be taking to the stage for a talk/Q&A session on one of the days (the exact day to be confirmed), he will be joining Ian James Corlett and comic artist Simon Williams on stage on Saturday evening for the live script reading which is being written by Simon Furman (and the evening programme is exclusive for weekend attendees), and he will be involved in another part of the main programme item during the weekend which will be on the DIFFERENT day to his talk/Q&A session so to see everything Gregg will be doing, you need to be there all weekend!
As is the standard policy for Auto Assembly, Gregg will NOT be charging for autographs but he will be bringing along a selection of items for sale including photos, CDs and DVDs which you can get signed but please feel free to have any of your own items autographed freely... including the Auto Assembly 2009 convention exclusive Grimlock postcard being illustrated by Andrew Wildman!
With a staggering 13 guests, there have never been a better time for you to attend Auto Assembly if you have never been before! Auto Assembly will be a packed weekend running from around 10:00 am until about 6:00 pm each day with a bonus programme on Saturday evening until 1:00 am and a small bonus programme on Friday evening, both for weekend attendees only.
In terms of activities, this will be the biggest and best Auto Assembly yet with dealers tables, guest talks (13 guests so far with at least two different panels each day, splitting our guest talks so no guest will talk more than once over the weekend), live script reading featuring Ian James Corlett and Gregg Berger, autograph sessions, artist sketches, artist workshops, comic colourist workshops, toy displays, art displays, charity auction, charity raffle, fan displays, quiz, video screenings, art, fiction and costume competitions, games area, a party and disco running until 1:00 am on Sunday, a possible cinema screening of Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen and much more besides...
The convention will be taking place right in the heart of Birmingham city centre in England at the Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre, Smallbrook Queensway, Birmingham. There is fantastic public transport access from every part of the UK and for those of you travelling from outside of the UK, Birmingham International Airport is just 10 minutes away by train!
For full details and online booking, visit the website NOW at www.autoassembly.org.uk
Anyway, we hope to see many of you there for what we hope will be Europe's biggest ever Transformers convention!

To celebrate the New Year, Transformers At The Moon is bringing you the first and only full image gallery of a Chrome Silver Collectors Edition Convoy toy.
The gallery includes over 140 images of the toy as well as information on it's origin (or lack of origin) and a short review.
The toy is completely covered in Chrome Silver paint, as seen on the Lucky Draw Transformers and Takara-Tomy staff exclusives. We are not 100% sure on the origin of this toy, however we feel it is probably a fake ... though it may yet prove to be a Takara staff exclusive item.
