In an articles entitled " ‘Transformers: Prime’ producer talks Beasts, mythology, Michael Bay", Transformers Prime producer Jeff Kline has sat down with LA Times to talk Transformers. The article, which can be read in full here, includes the following snippet on Season 3 and a preview of what is to come during the Beast Hunters story arch.
HC: Have you formulated a new three-year plan?
JK: We definitely reconfigured ourselves through Season 3, which we are in production on now. One of the nice things about “Transformers: Prime,” not true of all animated series, is that we have a full-time writing staff. A lot of animated series have to make do with one story editor and freelancers. It can be very hard to plot out long-term stories by yourself in a room. But we have a full-blown writing staff, so we spend a lot of time before we get down to script writing talking about where do we want to go, where do we want the characters to go.
HC: What can people expect in Season 3?
JK: As anybody who’s been watching the show knows, we tend to get bigger and bigger and paint ourselves into corners. So the end of Season 2 will paint us into a corner and hopefully you’ll be surprised at how we get ourselves out of it. For Season 3, we’re actually bringing Beasts into the story, which is a big game-changers. Not necessarily “Beast Wars” way or “Dino-bots” but Beasts, which are part of the Transformers lore. For us, it’s important to be able to justify that previous lore within our own continuity. One of the big things for us is the idea that Earth and Cybertron have been interrelated for eons. The Unicron arc played with that quite a bit. But Season 3 will be even more about how Earth and Cybertron are brother, or twin, planets in some way. And, as we’ve been doing for two seasons, allegiances will change, good guys and bad guys will switch sides, new elements will be brought in and old elements will be sent away. We try to change it up because we always want our Autobots at a disadvantage. From the very beginning, there have always been fewer Autobots than Decepticons, they’re technologically disadvantaged. We’ll continue to try to stack the deck against them.
Hello!! After almost a month of not having access to the Internet at home, having recently moved, I am glad to announced that as of this afternoon my new home finally has working internet connectivity. I am truely sorry for the lack of updates on every front over the last few months. I finalised the deal on my house at the end of January but the renovations that were required to install the central heating, fix the drains, generally sort out the property, pack everything and move has taken some time to come together. Indeed I am still unpacking figures into their new display cases which will probably go on for another 2-3 weeks. I also still need to move comics and any other figures I've forgotten about, so the final displays may not be in place until late June or even July. As you can no doubt imagine this has meant that I've been even busier than my professional life normally keeps me as has my brother, but how that internet access is back working again I will slowly start to catch up with content again. Moving has given me the chance to look at many of the figures I had forgotten about which has made me even more determined to get back to photographing and reviewing everything to share with the rest of the Transformers fandom. I've also dug out more original paperwork from the Sunbow production meetings which I will slowly create articles from to share several pieces of information which will probably be new to you all.
Once again I am sorry for the delay and whilst things may be a little slow still whilst I get back upto speed, I hope that I will be able to bring new, fresh and focused content and updates for you all to enjoy. Whilst the website has taken a back seat in my life over the lasy 5-6 years it still plays an important part of who I am as I have met many good friends through this site either directly or indirectly since starting it back in October 1999 and that is something that I am always extremely grateful for.
So please, raise a glass, I'm back on the web and that means Transformers will be back on The Moon!!
Steve
We would like to apologise to you our site visitors for the distinct lack of updates that we have made to the website over the last 18 months. This has primarily been down to an increase in both of our professional lives as well as some personal issues. However we want to re-affirm to everyone that we will be trying our hardest to get back to more regular updates of the website including the toy gallery section. We have photographed perhaps half of our collection over the last 10 years and we really want to push on and complete the job. We also hope to re-visit other areas of the website that have gone untouched such as the conventions section, site feeds, Firefox plug-ins, videos, store locator, members area and the miscellaneous merchandise galleries.
We were hoping to purchase some rather special and rare items to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Transformers At The Moon but unfortunately talks have currently stalled on those items.
