"Well as I stated over in the Meets + Conventions thread I got in to see the new TF and Marvel Toys and lots of other stuff too so heres what was there that I can remember and hopefully Minion will fill in the rest
also found out some new stuff about the film that I'll leave out to keep this spoiler free...... its really nothing major though.....
TF Classics
Well nothing new there that we hadnt seen before in fact they dedicated quite a huge space to so little toys it does at least look like we will get the whole range though so thats at least something
they had the full range on display
Alternators
We're getting fresh case assortments this year with previously unseen in the UK models although rather sadly the woman did say that there may be a hike in RRP !!
they had shockwave, prime, wheeljack and the most hideously badly transformed bluestreak on display
Robot Heroes
New Line for 2007
based on the star wars galactic heroes and the marvel superhero squad there will be a range of childlike TF's this year
I expect there will be movie version but.......
the ones on display were G1 yup you read that right...... G1.. in all its glory
first assortment will consist of 4 different 2 packs they had all 8 on show but I can only remember
Starscream, Grimlock, Shockwave, Kickback? and Prime (hopefully minion will remember the others as I was too busy trying to persuade the rep to let me take home the screamer proto...)
TF Movie
Well there was lots of product there in early and near finished prototype form and I'm honestly excited about quite a lot of what I saw (might have had something to do with the trailer running on high def on the big screen) although again there was so much to take in there might be a few omissions
first up was the protoform preview toys, they were pretty nice and looked fairly good in the flesh, not nearly as bad as I thought they would be,
next up the Movie Deluxe transformers
they had barricade in final hand painted version and he looked VERY high quality really looking forward to seeing those on the shelves
they also had blackout in an unpainted prototype and the detail on these guys for theor size is pretty impressive, they had a few others there that escape me too
they had the larger scale ironhide there too and he also looks good
next round the table they had the premium format figures and they look to be around MP size and price point
then onto ultimate bumblebee
he's huge..... probably about 15 inches long and comes packed with electroninc gizmos , no idea on price but its probably gonna be high
along side that were the bump and go quick flip things that the actual line name escapes me
they had screamer and ironhide versions there and they look ok but one for the younger fans methinks
next up were the Real Gear toys
they were a pretty nice idea and obviously theres loads of images of these out there anyway so nothing new to report on that front (although I'm expecting these to be the minicons of the line)
next to those was the Roleplay prime and screamer nerf firing arm blasters
they were really impressive they are basically versions of said characters that you put your arm into a hole at the back and pull a lever that causes it to transform on your arm into that characters arm and weapon
really really nice for basic toys but HUGE definately worth the 24.99 RRP
beside that were the non transforming figures
nothing really exciting there they look ok but until the product is more finalised then they better be cheap or they will shelf warm
next to those which might not be to everyones tastes but I liked the idea were TF Unleashed figures in the style of Star Wars unleashed
they had a movie bumblebee piece on show and it was really nice and would make a great cheap alternative for statue collectors
oh and of course optimash prime was there looking better than I expected
thats pretty much all I can remember from the TF display
outside in the non secret area they an attacktix stand showing off the new marvel range and a poster (well spotted by minion) that had G1 tf attacktix on it which was a pleasant surprise
that was next to the SW stand that didnt have much I hadn't seen before aside from the ever news worthy Vader/Death Star TF
I still feel this line would have been great if they had been tf characters as SW ships
the death star would make a great unicron
landpeeder=bumblebee
screamer=tie fighter
jetfire=x-wing
anyway I digress onto the secret marvel stand
first off the origins figures wave that are alreay out so nothing new there
then there were the new Spidey 3 figures from the movie and some of the new animated style figures were in there too
these are in a new 5" scale and look very highly detailed very very nice
on show for the S3 movie that I remember were
Spdey normal and black, eddie brock/venom, venom, sandman and goblin plus a few others who didnt excite me enough to remember
there were a few roleplay item including masks and the such like and some marvel themed classics boardgames such as guess who and operation
guess who should be over quickly with questions such as is he a norse god or does have webs on his costume
![::)](http://s2.images.proboards.com/rolleyes.gif)
round from that there was a complete suprise of peter parker/ Spiderspud Mr Potato head complete with cloth costume very funny and very cute
next on from that were some spidey + friends themed items with a range of really cute little plush toys (i can see the squirtle sanctuary being invaded by venom.....)
new superhero squad range will be coming out with some larger themed sets to include a sentinel and galactus which look very cool....... having a 3+ childlike toy of the punisher was good enough but now we get a cutesy planet eater into the bargain as well
then marvel legends and icons
well..... oh dear..... apparently I was the first one to express my disgust at the quality (are people worried about upsetting their suppliers?) the marvel legends rep there was very attentive tomy complaints about the line (higher prices, no comics and sculpting by 3 yr olds) comparing the figures to toybiz and how they can do good sculpts as hasbro SW 3 3/4 inch line shows
still she said she was very interested in my views especially that I wouldnt be ordering them due to the likelyhood that they wouldnt sell and will be giving my feedback to the US Development team to make improvements
it's a shame these big companies don't look at forums to guage interest
the Icons were ok but I get the feeling these were old toybiz molds
they had a few titaniums next to those but they were a nice idea I'll try stocking but I expect will hit clearance
then the ghost rider movie figures ....... nothing new there just lotsa burning skulls but nice enough quality
last up were the FF: rise of the surfer figures
again these were in the new 5" scale and were outstanding in sculpt quality when compared to the marvel legends displayed next to them, (the surfer was kinda pink not sure if it was a didgy paint app or something that happens in the film)
pretty nice overall to be honest
apparently there are no plans to cut off previous ML collectors and reduce the scale of those but if they dont get the sculpts right then maybe it would be better if they did and get the movie figure people onto it and make a new range in 5"
thats everything I remember from the hasbro stand
Scalextric just had no idea about the TF set coming so nothing to report there
there were some apparel style bits on another stand such as movie keyrings and the such like but they were mostly mock up packaging so not anything really to report
if anyone knows the desktop foam rocket firing toys then there will be a optimus ersion that can be controlled from your pc and theres some nice flashing logo t-shirts that will be available soo that I'll be stocking as they were very high quality
megablocks and lego had some nice new product but I wont go into that unless anyone wants me too
thanks for listening
Ghosty"
