Transformers Movie NewsPress Release
The Hasbro Properties Group, the intellectual property development arm of Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS - News) and Activision, Inc, (NASDAQ: ATVI - News), a leading publisher of interactive entertainment software products, announced today a license that grants Activision the global rights, excluding Japan, to develop console, handheld and PC games based on Hasbro's renowned TRANSFORMERS brand. The first game will be tied to the much-anticipated July 4, 2007 movie release of the live action TRANSFORMERS film from DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures.

The TRANSFORMERS brand has been one of the best-selling boys' action brands in a wide-range of categories, from toys to publishing to apparel, since its launch as a global property in 1984. Hasbro is currently gearing up to activate one of the Company's most ambitious worldwide marketing and merchandising programs yet to coincide with the live action movie in 2007.

"We are thrilled to work with Activision to bring the widely popular TRANSFORMERS brand to the world of digital entertainment and introduce millions of consumers to our best-known TRANSFORMER and biggest hero of all time--OPTIMUS PRIME," said Jane Ritson-Parsons, president of the Hasbro Properties Group (HPG). "As the leading developer of video games, Activision shares our passion and excitement for the TRANSFORMERS story line. We know this world-class and creative team will bring TRANSFORMERS to life in powerful and exciting ways as we immerse a broad audience in this pop-culture phenomenon."

"TRANSFORMERS has all of the elements necessary to translate incredibly well into video games," said Mike Griffith, president and CEO, Activision Publishing, Inc. "We look forward to bringing the TRANSFORMERS robots to life with the latest interactive technology and graphics."

The announcement of Activision as the global game publisher for the TRANSFORMERS brand marks the beginning of Hasbro's commitment to bring its well-known toy and game brands further into the digital media space. This effort follows the reacquisition of its video gaming rights from Infogrames Entertainment SA in June 2005.

"Video gaming is a natural next step for our classic properties as children and adults alike live more of their lives around technology," said Ritson-Parsons. "We see the digital arena as a great complement to the lifestyle experiences that we're providing to consumers in a variety of categories."

In addition to console, handheld and PC-based games, Hasbro plans to expand the TRANSFORMERS brand's reach through ring tones, mobile gaming and a host of other products for gaming fans of all ages.

The live-action TRANSFORMERS movie from DreamWorks Pictures, Hasbro and Paramount Pictures, will be directed by Michael Bay ("The Rock" and "Armageddon") from a screenplay being written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci ("Mission Impossible: 3"). Tom DeSanto ("X-Men" and "X2: X-Men United"), Don Murphy ("The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen") and Lorenzo di Bonaventura ("Four Brothers") are producing the film, with Steven Spielberg and Hasbro's Brian Goldner executive producing.

Transformers Movie NewsIn an update on Don Murphy's Message Board, writer Roberto Orci stated that Arcee has now been dropped from the new Transformers Movie.

"I hope that all those who hate Arcee will be gracious to those who love her. And to all those who wanted to see her, you should know the decision was not based on a mere dislike of the character, nor an attempt to defeminize the franchise. The decision is, at this point, story driven."<

Transformers Movie NewsTF Live has been updated with questions from the writers of the upcoming Live Action Transformers movie. The writers are asking for a list of the top ten Decepticons.

"I can tell you this, it ended up being more than we originally thought or have stated publicly. You can just about double the list we gave out in previous interviews. So maybe a top ten list would be appreciated in the final hours. " - Roberto Orci, writer on TF Movie

Apparently the script is nearly complete. Now why ask for a top 10 after the script is nearly done? Beats me unless they have spots for generic appearances. Either way you can pipe in with your top 10. Just be aware asking for a list and using a list are worlds apart.

Transformers Movie NewsIESB.net sat down with producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura to talk about how the Transformers film is progressing. The answers may upset some fans

Here is a copy of the, very brief, Q&A that they held.

IESB: Is the Transformers movie going stay true to the comics and the very well known Gen 1 cartoons and storyline?
di Bonaventura: We are going to stay true to the Transformers.

IESB: How much did the John Rogers script change or was it a complete rewrite?
di Bonaventura: It will be a completely different movie and it is a completely different script.

IESB: Don Murphy has been very vocal of his desire of using some of the original voice over actors such as Frank Welker and Peter Cullen in the film, do you, Spielberg and Bay feel the same?
di Bonaventura: No, I don't believe that is going to happen, I don't know why you would want the original voice over actors. Here you go, this is going to be the process, we are going to meet a lot of people for the voice over's and those guy's might end up being it but making the assumption going in [that the original actors will be used] is I think kind of silly actually. I think people want the best actors to do it. The best Optimus Prime and the best you know, all these characters, you know you want , hmm, I understand I grew up with them too, so you want to be true to characters. I think what's important is being true to them. I don't think being true to them means in literally using the same voice over actors. Some of those guys are TV cartoon guy's. I want get better characters if we can. Some of them might be able to do that and some may not, I am sure that they will get the opportunity.

IESB: Michael Bay has said that the Transformers will be shot 100% in the gold ole U.S.A., is that still the plan?
di Bonaventura: Yes, I think that will be the case.

ISEB.net also spoke with the writers of the G.I. Joe live action film, David Elliot and Paul Lovett, and were told that ...(they) are planning to have all the traditional heroes and villains including Destro. What was interesting was that at this time Destro would not wear the traditional mask but that Cobra Commander would be just the way we remember him. Now we know and knowing is half the battle.....Go Joe.

Transformers Movie NewsTo try to clarify things for the people that paniced at Sundays TF:Movie news Don Murphy has posted some more comments on his message board that should eleviate any fears people may have.

What is happening on Transformers is what happens on films ALL THE TIME. Steven Spielberg, Dreamworks, Hasbro and I are committed to making a GREAT TF film. We'd rather not make an okay one. And so it is taking longer than we hoped to get off the launch pad. We still will launch. It will be GREAT and then we will make sequel after sequel.

There is no doubt that this is true. I just like to share with you guys the blips and the crannies- but the film itself is not in the slightest peril.
