Cinematical are running an article regarding the arrest of a 19th year old who was caught filming the Transformers movie, here's the copy of the main portion of the article
On July 17th, Marymount University sophomore Jhannet Sejas was celebrating her 19th birthday with her boyfriend at a screening of Transformers.
Sejas, a Bolivian immigrant working two part-time jobs to support her
education, was loving the flick. She wanted to show her little brother
a clip from the film to get him excited to see it, so she took out her
digital camera and recorded 20 seconds of the climax. The assistant
manager of the theater saw her use the camera and reported it to the
general manager. The general manager decided to bypass such reasonable
steps as a) asking her never to record in the theater again, b) asking
her to erase the footage or c) asking her to leave the theater, and
simply telephoned the police. Within minutes, two police officers
entered the theater, confiscated the camera, and charged Sejas with the
crime of "illegally recording a motion picture."
Sejas says "I
was terrified. I was crying. I've never been in trouble before." Sejas
has been banned from the theater (where she frequently paid for and
viewed films) for life, and she has to go to trial for the incident
this month. She faces up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $2,500.
The Regal Cinemas Ballston Common 12 Theater decided to prosecute the
case, which is a first for Arlington police. Kendrick Macdowell,
general counsel for the Washington-based National Association of
Theatre Owners, says that there has to be a "zero-tolerance policy at
the theater level," adding "We cannot educate theater managers to be
judges and juries in what is acceptable. Theater managers cannot
distinguish between good and bad stealing."

Talk Transformers have an article highlighting the slightly different packaging variations for Transformers Movie Bumblebee (Camaro 08 version). The differences are purely in the cut / positioning of the bubble. You have to love the detail which the trained Transformers collector will find.
You can see the images

As you may remember, back in April I held a telephone
interview with Hornby Hobbies who produce the Transformers mini-Scalextric set as well as bring the world the first images of the set itself. Well I decided it was time to check back with them to see how the set has been performing since its release. The answer was simple, they couldn't be happier with the results thus far.
"
Retailer's reaction to the Scalextric Transformers product has been fantastic and beyond our original (high) expectations. Feedback from consumers so far has been generally of amazement and surprise that we could achieve transforming Scalextric cars, with a great track for such anaffordable price. So, in general, we couldn't be happier with results thus far." Paul, Scalextric Brand Manager told me this morning.
This is great news for the company as well as Transformers racing set fans, as strong sales in this market increasing the chance of not only other cars, but other sets being released in the future.

As promised we can now bring you some figures on how the Transformers movie performed at the UK box office over its opening weekend. The good news is that Transformers debuted at number 2 in the UK box office charts taking in £8.6 million (that's over $17.2 million in US money) a figure that would normally have meant that the film would have debut at number 1. Here's a quick round down of the top three films.
1. The Simpsons - £13 Million ($26 Million)
2. Transformers - £8.6 Million ($17.2 Million)
3. Harry Potter - £TBC
When comparing Transformers to The Simpsons remember that the Simpsons opened three full days ahead of Transformers within the UK (due to advance screenings) and is only 80 minutes long where as transformers is 2 hrs 24 mins), meaning that cinema's can have two showings of the Simpsons whilst showing Transformers only once. The Simpsons also opened in 40 more screens across the UK.
All-in-all, the opening weekend for Transformers performed extremely well, and was originally predictted as debuting at number 3 in the charts behind both The Simpsons and Harry Potter. In the United States, The Simpsons also debut at number one, beating the Transformers opening weekend, but
not the opening three days that Transformers was on general release.
Thanks to Paramount Pictures for above figures and for all the help that they have given us over the last year.

Today's Transformers day for the United Kingdom, as Transformers gets it's nationwide release in cinema's across the UK. Be careful if going to watch the film tonight / tomorrow, as preview screenings sold out very quickly. We'd recommend booking in advance and arriving early if you want to avoid sitting in the front rows.
Remember to stay through the credits, at least until you see the Transformers Logo. There is a short scene straight after this, which is the last of three scenes in total through the credits. There's nothing at the end of the credits either, in case you're wondering.

When the
Transformers film is released generally throughout the UK and Ireland tomorrow, a massive 940 prints will being used, that means that 940 screenings of Transformers could, potentially, take place across the country at the same time. Transformers is not expected to reach number one at the UK box office, due to the strength of the Harry Potter series, however it is being predicted to gross more during its run than its main competitor the Simpsons Movie. Press reviews of the film have been strong (other than on the Murdoch owned papers, now there is a surprise, what with Fox also being part of his group).
We urge everyone in the fan community to go out and support the film by seeing it at least once in the cinema and to encourage your friends, family and neighbours to go see it and help make Transformers a UK blockbuster, if nothing else if this film is a massive success within the UK, then it may well make the "powers that be" take notice of just how strong the UK based fan base is. Remember, if you are on Orange you can always make use of the Orange Wednesdays offer to see the film again at a cheaper price. Other cinemas also offer a discount night, so make sure to check your local cinemas for such offers. Perhaps see the film for the first time this weekend, then look back over our news stories at the various bloopers that we've spotted and reported, and then go see it again on a cheaper night and see if you can spot them as well as any others.
Stay with Transformers At The Moon as we will look to bring you official word on how Transformers performs at the box office.
