Auto Assembly 2013 Tickets On Sale NOW
Yes, you read it right! While Auto Assembly 2012 is only a couple of weeks away we know that many of you like to plan ahead which is why we have decided to announce details of Auto Assembly 2013 and open bookings for next year’s convention NOW! It’s set to be another rip-roaring year and we’ve been waiting for months to be able to reveal the details to you about the convention and now we can tell you some of the great things we have in store…
Date And Venue
The convention will be taking place over the weekend of Friday 9th August to Sunday 11th August 2013 and will be held, once again at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, Birmingham which is our new home for Auto Assembly. We already have the date set for Auto Assembly 2014 as well but we'll be announcing this shortly.
Special Guests
We have our two of our three guests of honour confirmed and the third is in the closing stages of discussions and all three will be announced at Auto Assembly 2012. We also have confirmed returning comic guests and at least one new international comic guest but all will be revealed soon...
Prices
Sadly, we have had to raise our ticket prices for Auto Assembly 2013 because a lot of our costs have risen considerably over the last couple of years and while we have tried to absorb as many of these as we could we have reached the point where this is no longer possible. As such, Adult weekend tickets will be £50, Youth and Elderly weekend passes will be £38 and Partner weekend passes will be £40. Accommodation in the Hilton will be £51.50 for a single or £62 for a twin or double room per night inclusive of breakfast!
Dealers Tables are also going to be slightly more expensive for 2013 but we believe that these also still represent fantastic value for money and these are available for just £120 each for the weekend and that includes two staff passes.
Special Offer
We know that a lot of you love to book early for Auto Assembly and we hope that Auto Assembly 2013 will be no exception. Because of this, we are giving you the chance to book your tickets for Auto Assembly 2013 at a discount rate for a limited period where will be FREEZING prices at the Auto Assembly 2012 rate! To take advantage of this offer, you will need to book your tickets by no later than 31st August 2012. This is a great way to guarantee your tickets for next year’s convention and know that all you have to do after that is sort out travel and spending money that you have an entire year to do!
Passes For Life / Tables For Life
We know that many of you have been coming to the convention for a long time now and we have built up a loyal following of attendees who regularly come to the event every year. Fans travel to the convention from all over the UK, across Europe and from all over the world for the weekend-long celebration of all things Transformers.
Now, we want to take the opportunity to reward some of our most loyal attendees. Many fans return to the convention year after year and have spent hundreds of pounds on their tickets to the event over the years and with the convention set to run on for many years to come, will continue to spend hundreds of pounds more on their registration fee alone. We have also seen Dealers who have been with us for almost as long as the convention has been running offering fans some fantastic bargains on all the latest and rarest Transformers toys and we want to offer many of you the opportunity to save an incredible amount of money and guarantee your place at Auto Assembly FOREVER…
We have now launched our Pass For Life and Dealers Table For Life to do just that. For a simple one-off payment, you will get guaranteed admission to Auto Assembly for as long as the convention continues to run. You will never have to worry about whether or not you have booked tickets or – if you are a dealer – whether you need to book tables. Your places will be secured automatically and the only costs you will need to be concerned about will be your travel, accommodation and spending money.
These extremely limited tickets protect you from the inevitable price rises that we will have to introduce in the future as our running costs for the convention increase over time and as the event increases in popularity and demand for tickets rise, places will be harder to book so you will never have to worry about whether or not you will be able to get into the convention!
Prices for these are all inclusive. Once you have purchased these tickets, you will never have to make another payment to Auto Assembly again unless you wish to purchase separate convention merchandise or bring other people to the convention with you. A Pass For Life for Auto Assembly is just £150! There are no concessions available on these because attendees will age over time and their status will change from Youth to a regular Adult Pass.
A Dealers Table For Life at Auto Assembly is £400. This is for one of our “standard” tables which comprises of three tables which are approximately 5' x 2' 6? in size. It also covers full weekend admission to the convention for up to two members of staff. Additional tables are available at the reduced cost of £300 each. Both types of Lifetime Passes are very limited and are proving incredibly popular. To order one of these, just download the Pass For Life Application Form now and return it as soon as possible.
So if you want to get your tickets NOW for the biggest Transformers event in Europe of 2013, then visit our Auto Assembly 2013 Bookings Page on the Auto Assembly website! If you want to order a Pass For Life or know more, you can download the form here:- http://www.autoassembly.org.uk/AA2012/AutoAssemblyPassForLifeApplicationForm.doc

Here's a roundup from the SDCC IDW Panel from yesterday
* GI Joe: Current story will conclude in issue #16.
* "Target: Snake Eyes" begins in October for six issues. Oktober is coming...
* Dille wants to return Hector Ramirez. Would do it on GI Joe if he gets the chance.
* Larry Hama: he would make the stories up as he went along for years. He never plotted anything out. He's never seen the cartoon or read any of the comics he wasn't involved in. They would just create stories just from a cover. Covers were based on what toys he was looking to promote
* No influence from MASH working on Joe -- Hama.
* Baroness created to show a reaction to Cobra Commander. No mask, so you can see facial expression.
* Transformers starts now.
* August is Dinobot Month.
* Grimlock in MTMTE.
* Nothing new really...
* In RG1, Grimmy will return to Nebulos to try and regain transformation abilities.
* 2012 Annual is called "Primus". Written by Barber, art by Guido Guidi. Will tie into the ongoings.
* FOC Art Book by Mark Bellomo.
* FOC digital prequel coming in August.
* "Transformers: Prime - Rage of the Dinobots" will tie into season 3 of the show. Mike Johnson & Mairghread Scott to write that.
* Still robots on Cybertron. Dinobots amongst them.
* Question is will Dinobots be in season 3 of Transformers Prime? Not necessarily, you'll need to check out the comic for details.
* No info on Tranformers/GI Joe crossover.
* Will do hardcover GI Joe Collection a la Transformers.
* Talking about more female Transformers.
* Flint Dille did Autocracy on the back of his work on Diablo. Happy to be doing Transformers again.
* UK reprints will continue.

Transformers Movie Presentation and Q&A With Paul Eiding at Auto Assembly 2012
At Auto Assembly, for the last few years we've traditionally had a showing of the 1986 animated Transformers movie as part of the weekend programme at the convention. Fans have found that there has been nothing better than watching this classic film amongst a group of other fans but this year we're doing something very special...
On the Friday evening we will be holding a special presentation of the animated Transformers movie which will be preceeded by a short introduction by G1 voice actor Paul Eiding. Paul will then be joining us to watch the movie and he will then take to the stage for a short Q&A session afterwards to answer any questions that our attendees may have about the film and his work on it! This is a fantastic opportunity for our attendees to watch what is arguably the best of all of the Transformers movies alongside one of its cast members in the friendly relaxed atmosphere that only Auto Assembly can offer.
Remember that the Friday night programme is ONLY for those of you who have a weekend ticket for the convention so if you haven't already registered, book now to see this bonus Q&A Panel! If you have already booked but only have a one day pass, get in touch to find out how you can upgrade your tickets to be able to see all our Q&A Panels taking place over the weekend.

Jagex To Support Auto Assembly 2012
Online MMO games developer Jagex are busy working frantically on their upcoming Transformers Universe MMO. Back in 2011, Jagex supported Auto Assembly by providing us with a great selection of freebies to give away to our attendees, some fantastic t-shirts which we gave away as competition prizes, and donated what is still our highest fundraising auction items ever.
We're proud to announce that Jagex will be supporting Auto Assembly again this year and, they’ll be bringing boxes of stuff exclusive to attendees of Auto Assembly 2012. They will be given away as prizes in various competitions during the convention and we will also be giving away some in a pre-registrant prize draw. To enter this, all you need to do is book your tickets for the convention IN ADVANCE and you'll be entered (as long as you don't have a Partner or Under 6 pass!).
Then just check your welcome pack on the day and if you have a lucky ticket in there, you've won!
Secondly Jagex will be donating something rather special for our charity auction... They will be providing us with a very special print of artwork from the Transformers Universe game signed by the development team! At Auto Assembly 2011, a similar print that was signed by SIXTY members of the team raised an astonishing £350 and we hope that this one will do the same and we want to thank Paul Mayer and Eddy Dew from Jagex for arranging this.
Finally, we will be giving away Transformers Universe art cards to our attendees as part of the goodie bags this year. Featuring one of two different designs, these have great CGI landscapes on them and are great collectibles from the game.
You can find out more about the game at http://www.transformersuniverse.com and about Jagex's other online MMOs including the highly-acclaimed RuneScape at their website at http://www.runescape.com

Auto Assembly 2012 Convention Exclusive Lithograph Unveiled
For most of you attending Auto Assembly 2012 this August - or if you have ordered our Non-Attendee Package - you know that we are giving away a selection of gifts as part of our traditional goodie bag. As well as our regular exclusive postcards, convention magazine, and our comic we are producing an A2 lithograph this year and we are now proud to unveil the artwork for the first time...
Illustrated by Marvel UK artist Jeff Anderson and coloured by Kris Carter, the artwork has been inspired by some of the old comic covers featured on the British Marvel Transformers comics and features Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge. The litho is limited to a print run of just 1,000 copies and is ONLY going to be made available at Auto Assembly 2012 so unless you attend the convention or order a Non-Attendee Pack, you won't be able to get this fantastic piece of artwork.
We were so impressed with this art that it is also featuring as the cover image for this year's convention exclusive comic, Iacon Independent, and we are also producing a postcard based on the original lineart from the card so we think that it's adding up to a fantastic package of gifts.
For all you dealers and businesses out there reading this, we want to give YOU the chance to be a part of this as we have the opportunity for one lucky company to be associated with this lithograph and to sponsor it! You'll get the chance to not only have your company's logo and details featured on the litho, but on the associated postcard as well! We have several package deals on offer linking in with the lithograph which can also tie in with our convention magazine and exclusive comic so YOUR company could be heavily linked with this artwork so what are you waiting for? This is a one-off opportunity to get your company onto a product that will be on display on the walls of fans all over the world! Email us for more details!

We want to remind all of you that there are now only five weeks to go until Auto Assembly 2012! If you haven’t already booked your tickets for this year’s event then we’d recommend that you book your tickets as soon as possible. Please don’t leave it until the last minute folks – not only does it leave us with more work processing bookings and producing passes, often doing it at the hotel itself, but last year we had a staggering 40% of our total ticket sales in the last 5 weeks and almost a third of those were in the final week!
Ticket wise, we are way ahead of where were were last year and right now we are at the point now where we were when pre-registrations had CLOSED last year so hurry and get your tickets so you’re not disappointed! We are now very close to beating the attendance figure we reached in 2010 so in the next few days we are also likely to set a new European attendance record for a Transformers convention so if you want to be a part of this, you know what to do!

Auto Assembly 2012 Convention Comic Preview - Day 4
With Auto Assembly 2012 just over five weeks away, we thought we'd turn our series of previews over to our convention magazine The Cybertronian Times. The magazine has been running since 1998 and this year we're doing something rather special...
This year the magazine is being printed in A4 format as we have done for the last few years but for the first time ever the magazine is being printed in full colour and is being GIVEN AWAY to all our attendees who will be receiving one of the conventions goodie bags. In previous years the magazine has been sold as an optional add-on to the ticket price with 2011's magazine selling with a cover price of £7 so this is a fantastic bonus gift.
The magazine features a selection of articles, features, profiles on all of this years guests, fiction plus two brand new comic strips and it is these that we want to unveil today. The first story, "The Hunter" is set during IDW's series Robots In Disguise and focuses on Sideswipe where he goes it alone in tracking down a rogue Decepticon, but will his reckless nature cause him even more trouble? Written and illustrated by Ed and Ben Pirrie with a supporting team for colours and the strip's cover page.
The magazine is only available at Auto Assembly 2012 so to get your hands on a copy you're going to have to book at ticket for the event or order one of our Non-Attendee Packs. Don't forget, you'll also be able to get hold of our other convention exclusive, the Marlboor Kitbash Upgrade Kit for Generations Wheeljack by attending the convention or ordering a Non-Attendee Pack so there's a double incentive to book if the guests and the convention itself weren't reason enough!
We have very limited advertising space available in the magazine for any interested companies and several pages have already been sold. It will have a print run of 1,000 copies and will be distributed to fans attending the convention from all over the world. If you are interested in promoting your business, website, event or anything else, please get in touch!

As you know, we are producing a convention exclusive comic for Auto Assembly 2012 that will be included in all of the goodie bags that we will be giving away at the event. These bags will be packed with free gifts to make sure that no-one leaves the convention empty-handed, whether you come along with much spending money or not.
The comic, Iacon Independent, will feature work from a range of talented writers and artists and will feature 22 pages of short stories and single page strips spanning G1, Beast Wars, Beast Machines and Transformers: Animated and will have something for everyone and will feature a stunning cover illustrated by Marvel G1 artist Jeff Anderson.
We can now reveal the first teaser image from the comic taken from the story “Youth of Experience”. Set during "The War Within", it sees Hot Rod and Kup team up for the first time. It is written by Peter Williams featuring art by Rui Onishi, colours by Kal Kyle and letters by Andy Turnbull.
More preview art to follow tomorrow...

Below you will find a copy of the latest Auto Assembly Press release,
Auto Assembly 2012 Weekly Update - Six Weeks To Go!
We're now just SIX WEEKS away from Auto Assembly 2012 and we've got some great news in this weeks update as well as some VERY important information for those of you who haven't booked your tickets yet for Europe's Largest Transformers Convention taking place over the weekend of 3rd - 5th August in Birmingham, England...
Pre-Registrant Prize Draw
We can now announce details of a fantastic FREE prize draw that we are running at Auto Assembly 2012. To be eligible for this draw, you need to have a WEEKEND ticket for the convention (an Adult, Elderly or Dealer pass) or a NON-ATTENDEE ticet and you must be present at our Closing Ceremony that will take place on the Sunday afternoon (although we will obviously make exceptions to this for those with Non-Attendee Packages). You must also have booked for the convention in ADVANCE - it is NOT open to those who pay on the door so it's another great reason to pre-register for the convention!
The prize? The winner will receive two full weekend tickets to Auto Assembly 2013 (the date for which we will be announcing shortly) along with THREE NIGHTS accommodation in a twin or double room at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel!
Because the competition includes hotel accommodation as part of the prize, it is only open to adult attendees aged 18 or over and must be awarded in person. The hotel prize is also for the room and breakfast ONLY. Additional room expenses are to be paid for by the prize winner. No cash alternatives are avaialable for this prize and it is non-transferable but it is a total package worth almost £300.
Ticket Bookings Deadline
Many of us on the Committee will be arriving at the Hilton a few days before the convention to make sure that everything is ready for all of you when you arrive for Auto Assembly 2012. Also, we want to try to have a few days to relax before the chaos begins! As such, to make sure that we can process all of the bookings in time for the convention, we have now set the FINAL cut-off date for you to pre-register for the convention and to get your tickets.
To book your tickets online for Auto Assembly 2012, you will need to order these through the website by NO LATER than 12:00 noon GMT on Wednesday 1st August 2012. After this time, you will ONLY be able to get tickets for the convention by purchasing them on the day.
Benefits of pre-registration include:
* A personalised pass
* Entry into the pre-registration prize draw
* Early pass pick-up from 12:00 noon on Friday 3rd August 2012
Some on the door places will be available but we do not recommend that you leave booking until the last minute. If you wait until the day itself, you will have to wait while we process your booking so you won't gain admission to the convention as quickly as our pre-registrants!
Also, we want to remind everyone that in 2011 we had almost 15% of our TOTAL attendance figure book their tickets in the final 7 days... do you really want to take a chance and be disappointed this year and miss out?
Kitbash Workshop Convention Exclusive
An update now on our convention exclusive for 2012... the Marlboor head kit for Generations Wheeljack that has been produced for us by Calloway Customs to accompany this year's Kitbash Workshop. The Gold Kits have now SOLD OUT completely and we are down to about 10 of the Silver Kits. They have been a phenomenal success but if you want one of these you are now going to have to hurry. They are available for those attending the convention or those who buy our Non-Attendee Pack but you will need to order yours quickly to avoid disappointment.
The Bronze Kits are also selling quickly, but we estimate that the Silver and Bronze Kits will all be sold out within the next seven days, after which point you will only be able to order the Basic Kits comprising on the unpainted heads. More details can be found on the Auto Assembly website.
Auto Assembly 2013
Next week we will be bringing you some fantastic news about Auto Assembly 2013... it's coming!
