Simon Furman , Transformers legendary writer, has updated
his blog with his thoughts on Paramounts Transformers Movie preview screening. Here are some quotes
"
It was a strange experience, largely because
(bar the trailers and TV spots) I'd seen so much of the movie (in terms
of still images, style guide character shots, the script, etc) but
actually none of the movie (in terms of actual moving images). In the
process of (co-) writing the IDW Prequel comics and writing an
extensive and in-depth movie Visual Guide for Dorling Kindersley (out
in July BTW), I was exposed to more or less every angle of the movie,
but seeing those twenty or so minutes of actual footage really brought
it all to life. I was impressed very impressed, as were pretty much
everyone I got to speak to afterwards. It looked great and the dialogue
crackled (something I hadn't got when I'd read the script). In common
with others there, I was left wanting more, which has to be a good
sign. At the after-screening soiree, I got to chat to Lorenzo Di
Bonaventura (in person this time) and hang out with the Titan bods in
attendance. Eaglemoss were also there (more on that when I can tell
you). As for the (whole) movie, I can't wait. Really. The more I see
the more excited I get. It's going to be a big year!"

The following email was sent out from the Sector Seven to continue the event on their website
You have proclaimed your willingness to expose Sector Seven. Now the time has come for action. The truth must be revealed to the public.
It's all around them, but they fail to see it. Only by amassing all of the evidence in a single place can we hope to convince the world that non-biological entities are hidden among us.
Seek out relevant data on unidentified aerial phenomena, as well as robots far too advanced to have been created by humans. Post what you find on this public site:
buzznet.com/groups/stopsectorseven
But be warned, just as you have dedicated yourself to my cause, others out there have become servants of Sector Seven. They will try to stop you. You must persist, even in the face of their seemingly limitless power. Sector Seven's policies will doom us all. You are the only hope for Earth.
What's more interesting is a StopSectorSeven website was suggested by
Unifiction last week.

That's part of the rumours from Japan regarding a business decision from Tomy in Japan. Will they be buying out 1 or 2 of their Japanese competitors, or will they be buying into a US board-game company? I guess it's wait and see time. Here's the full report anyway:-
Reports from Japan suggest that Tomy is on the acquisition trail, looking to make up for a declining domestic market.
According to a story from the FT's Tokyo correspondent,
demand for traditional toys in Japan has been falling by four per cent
annually as a result of the popularity of video games. Japan's toy
manufacturers are also still highly fragmented, making the sector seem
ripe for consolidation.
Tomy is understood to be in talks to
acquire a US-based educational board-game manufacturer and is also
examining two Japanese rivals, although people familiar with the
situation declined to identify any of the possible targets.
The
Texas Pacific Group last month said it would buy a 14 per cent stake in
the company, marking the first investment led by the private equity
group in Japan following several high-profile deals elsewhere in Asia.
Jun
Tsusaka, the head of TPG in Japan, has been quoted as saying that TPG
wanted to increase Tomy's overseas sales ratio to 50 per cent from 15
per cent, in order to compete with toy giants such as Mattel and Hasbro.
"Tomy
is making wonderful products that are quite innovative, but it does not
have a global organisation," said Tsusaka. "The biggest opportunity
will be China, which is growing at a pace of about 20 per cent a year.
In Japan, we could find definite synergies [in acquiring another
company] through distribution and lowering costs."
Tsusaka and
Akio Ishida, a former vice-chairman of Merrill Lynch's investment
banking unit who is now vice-chairman at TPG, have joined Tomy's board
as outside directors.
The two men are spearheading a project
committee that is examining all aspects of Tomy's business lines,
including purchasing, brand value and supply-chain management.
Tomy's
business has seen its domestic market share steadily eroded by the
popularity of video games. In the year to March 2006, Tomy posted a
group net loss of Y9.71bn ($82.4m) and for this year has cut its annual
net profit forecast to Y1.7bn from Y5bn, blaming weak demand for
traditional toys.
In order to trim costs and boost operating
margins, TPG said, Tomy could bring down procurement costs by about 15
per cent. "Until now, in many cases, [Tomy has] relied on only one to
two vendors for purchasing agreements," said Tsusaka.
Ishida
said there was room for growth in educational toys and video-game
related products, such as T-shirts and lunchboxes. Tomy is also
considering launching internet sales. "We think that Tomy has the
potential to become number-one in Japan," he said.

We've recieved confirmation from Brian Savage that the BotCon non-attendees package is indeed open worldwide and not just for US residents. Like previous years, they seeemed to be a little confusion over this due to the layout of the form, but it is indeed open to everyone.

The Botcon website has been updated with the registration forms. You can find the
attendees form here and the
dealers form here. They have also published
information on the event, confirming that there will be a special limited showing of the new Transformers Movie. They have also confirmed that 500 attendees will get the chance of visiting Hasbro's offices. The 500 are the first 400 people to register and 100 via a raffle.
The convention toys are:-
Classics Thrust
Classics Thundercracker
Classics Dirge
Classics Dreadwind
Classics Bugbite.
You can safely assume the toys will be re-coloured Classic Starscream molds for the Strike planes, with Bugbyte probably a White Classics Bumblebee, based on the e-Hobby Bugbite minibot. Deadwind
could be a recoloured Jetfire, though that is unclear.
David Kaye has also been annouced as the first official guest.
