Hi guys,
Auto Assembly: Target 2006 is proud to announce that a special event
is taking place at this year's convention which is taking place in just
over two weeks time on Saturday 3rd of June in Birmingham, England...
We are working in conjunction with a UK company who will be running
a series of consultation sessions throughout the day for a BRAND NEW
Transformers product that they are producing and they want YOU to be
involved in it's development. They want to talk to up to 100
Transformers fans at Auto Assembly: Target 2006 to get their views on
this new product and your views will help shape this item that will
hopefully be hitting the shelves later this year!!
To take part, all you need to do is pre-register for the convention
and then we will select 100 attendees at random from everyone who has
pre-booked to take part. Because of the nature of the sessions, you
will need to sign a non-disclosure agreement and as such the sessions
are restricted to over 16s but apart from that anyone will be able to
get involved! We must limit this to pre-registrants because of the
random nature of the allocations and the age restrictions so we can
check this against our records so it's yet another great reason for
pre-booking!! If you are one of the lucky participants, you'll find a
voucher in your pack that you just hand over to the staff running the
consultation on the day. All you have to do is go along at any time
during the day and get involved in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
However, the cut-off date for pre-registrations is closing fast. If
you live outside the UK you only have a few days left to pre-register.
We MUST have your online bookings in by Saturday 20th May 2006 in order
for us to process them and get your info packs and confirmation slips
to you in time. If you book after this date, we can't guarantee that
your packs will reach you in time for the convention and you need your
confirmation slips to gain entry to the event.
If you live in the UK, the postal cut-off date is also the 20th May
as this will give us time for cheques to clear into our bank account
prior to despatch of your packs. If you are booking online, this
deadline is extended until Saturday 27th. Again, if you book after this
date then we can not guarantee that your packs will reach you in time
for the convention.
We are still getting bookings in faster than ever before and we have
now had more pre-bookings than the TOTAL number of attendees for Auto
Assembly 2004 and we are looking at beating the total number of
attendees that we had last year in pre-bookings alone! It is likely
that we will have on-the-door places, but these will be limited and we
will post details on the Auto Assembly website, forum and issue details
through all major Transformers websites as to the number of on-the-door
places available on Saturday 27th April 2006.
We will make information available of how to attend if you are
coming along on the day and the process for registering, the delays you
can expect and what to do if you have pre-registered. We must stress
that any on-the-door places will be on a first-come, first-served basis
so we would advise that you arrive at the convention early to ensure
your best chance of admission to the convention. If in doubt,
pre-register.
Auto Assembly: Target 2006 is now just over TWO WEEKS away... there
are no other Transformers conventions planned for the UK for 2006. We
are still in talks to bring further guests to the convention in
addition to the NINE already confirmed and we hope to have more
activities to announce shortly, not to mention the now infamous goodie
bag that all attendees will receive full of free gifts with more gifts
in the pipeline in addition to those already confirmed!
As there are now only a couple of weeks before the convention,
please ensure that you send your bookings to us NOW to avoid
disappointment!
Simon and Sven,
Auto Assembly: Target 2006

Benson Yee has posted on h
is message board, regarding IDWs Beast Wars profile books. Here's what he had to say.
- I am writing a Beast Wars profiles book with Simon Furman (some folks wondered if it was some *other* Ben Yee).
- Issue #1 of the BW mini gives you a hint as to whether Japanese characters will be in the books.
- The profiles will NOT just be the guys (and gals) who appeared in the TV show (because that would be one very thin book).
- There
will be G1 homages and yes, characters (who became BW characters) in
the book such as Grimlock. However, they are in the minority.
- This
is not some haphazard assembly of characters. Before writing a single
profile, Simon and I worked up an entire backstory for the Maxies and
Preds taking the TV show and Beast Machines (to a lesser degree) into
account.

Brian Goldner, Hasbro's Chief Operating Officer, has made several posts over at
Don Murphy's Message Board.
H's a summary from some of the posts
"I am reading all of this...the entire team has been reading along
with your discussions since the start. We are listening. The movie is a
work in progress, at this point. I will try to answer your questions,
or will get the questions to members of the team to give you a proper
answer...we are all as passionate as you...this I promise...bg.....
The script is still being developed. The writers, producers, and
Michael Bay want to ensure that the characters, Decepticons, and
Autobots have great, developed personalities that bring the story to
life. Again, the characters lines are still being written...for both
Autobots and Decepticons.....
I will try to dial in with you regularly....I have been reading all
along, but felt it might be helpful to answer some questions, and
certainly try to settle some rumors (so I signed up). This forum format
is new to me, but this project is very important to us all, because we
love this brand....this movie is going to be great. It's a great
story.....
Let me try to cover some important points (some of your other
thoughts throw me off the trail, at times)... The team is going to
audition original voice talent whereever possible....remember, several
people played multiple characters in the animated movie. The characters
are still being developed for Autobots, and Decepticons...the writers
are very focused on creating great personalities across the
board...based on the rich Transformers mythology...this is an origin
story. It needs to start at the beginning. Also, you cannot
underestimate the impact that LIVE ACTION will have on making our cast
of TRANSFORMERS come to life in a way you have never experienced.....
I need to sign off for now. I am speaking to Don and Tom tonight. ....
We are all working as a team to make a great Transformers Movie...everyone on this project has this as a common goal...everyone.

With Auto Assembly approaching fast, we thought we'd take the time to remind you all of the booking deadlines for the conventions. Places
are limited, so if you have not yet made your booking to what is again the UK's only Transformers Convention, you should do so soon or you could miss out. The event would be the perfect place to ask Simon Furman more on the IDW One-Offs, the 2nd Beast Wars Mini-Series and what else is in the works over at IDW.

According to latest sales figures from the Toymaster chain, Star Wars: Transformers is no longer in their top 13 selling toys. Toymaster, who do not sell the main Transformers: Cybertron line, were reporting the Star Wars: Transformers line as their number 1 selling toy line at the
start of april, had dropped to the number two slot
just over a month ago, but has now disappeared from the top 13 all together. By contrast, the main Star Wars line is back in at number 9, with Power Rangers at number 8, Lego Bionicles at number 5, Dr Who at number 2 and Baby Bratz at number 1.
Though not indicative of sales through the whole of the UK, this does act as a guide ot the current performance of the SWTF line.
