From
Michael Bay's Blog:-
I just barely caught Michael in between takes. Among the things he
mentioned:
1- They will be releasing more teaser posters in the coming
months.
2- Paramount made studies and concluded that the TF "ANNOUNCEMENT"
was the 2nd highest rated "teaser" this summer.
3.- They just finished shooting a lot of Pentagon interiors on a
soundstage in scenes that involved many Chiefs of staff in their
huge war room.
4.- Shia just was recently suspended over the edge of a 20 story
building in a very dynamic and intense scene.
5.- The average transformation time from normal mode to alt mode
and vice versa is about 3 to 4 seconds.
6.- The leaked pictures are legit (although a somewhat early
rendering).
7.- Filming of massive chase scenes will begin in the following
weeks.
8.- The CGI transformations by ILM are looking wicked and nastier
every single day.
9.- Part 1 will be about why the transformers came to earth.
10.- This movie will be a new start for the live action franchise
that will not be based on any particular TF TV series and/or comic
book.
And last but certainly not least, the Autobots are:
Optimus Prime: idealistic view of humanity.
Bumblebee: underdog, spy, most "connected" to humans
Jazz: style, loyal, eager, contemporary
Ratchet: new form, medical officer, science officer.
Emergency vehicle.
Ironhide: tough, tough stare, first in battle, classic
cowboy, gritty. Optimus' oldest friend.
Decepticons are:
Megatron: survival of the fittest, social darwinism, less
idealistic view of humanity. Sees himself as advanced, sees humans
as lower.
Starscream: seems faithful but plotting, "we will see a lot
of that dynamic," explains why he does not push it, waits for his
opportunity.
Brawl: eager for battle, jumps in. From non-G1 character,
experimental, but will be in sequels. First disguised
non-flyer.
Bonecrusher: closest to constructicon but not giving away
mode. Hates other cons except Megatron. Doesn't want friends.
Barricade: scout, hunter, lures into trap.
Scorponok: closest to Beast Wars, fitted to
environment.
Frenzy: "had some evolution for us," started off as
Soundwave but had contradictions and changed to stay truer to G1.
Smaller, able to infiltrate. Stealth spy, can hide anywhere.
Blackout: comes in, takes out fighting ability, sends EMP,
first-tier attack, transporter, biggest vehicle.

Mulgon has posted images
here on the ACToys.net message board of some new Classic figures. The figures include both vehicle and dinosaur minicons. The choice of names for the Dinosaurs is an interesting one. Terrorsaur for a therapod dinosaur, seems appropriate due to the famous terapods, but with Swoop being a Pterasaur, you'd have thought that Hasbro could have chosen a name that was pronounced differently. Ah well.

Two of Hasbro's Trademark applications have been updated recently by the US Patent and Trademark Office. the first was their 2004 registration for
Windcharger (most probably for the Alternator) which has been abandoned due to Hasbro not filing and 'statements of use' since they were issued with the 'notice of allowance', the precursor to obtaining the trademark itself.
Its better news for Hasbro on another Alternator, their 2004 application for the mark
Silverstreak looks set to finally become a registered one. First submitted in 2004, their application was suspended in early 2005, before Hasbro were granted with a notice of allowance at the start of this year. Since they, Hasbro requested an extension, which was granted, updated the 'use' information and now, 25 months since their first application, the registration has been accepted and will soon be issued with a registration number.
Don't forget, you can stay up-to-date on the latest trademark information via our
Transformer Trademark section. Firefox users, may also be interested in download the
Trademark Search plugin, to improve your trademark searches.

Originally posted in German over on TheTransformers.de by Nevermore
here and then posted to the Trans-Europes Express Group.
A few months ago, Hasbro Germany's current Transformers "brand manager" invited me and a few other fans to Hasbro Germany's new offices. Unfortunately, the trip initially wouldn't happen for time reasons, which is why I had an extended phone call with him today instead.
Summary:
- Apparently, European distribution in general is down to the US mother company, who decide on which toys will get released in Europe. The domestic branches don't have much of a say in which individual products they will release and what the case assortments will be.
- Some toys being released in Europe in US packaging (cue Cybertron Starscream in the UK) is due to a combination of sudden demand and a shortage of products. US toys will be shipped to Europe and applied with a sticker, making it legal for the European market.
- The German TV airing of the Armada cartoon three years ago was apparently cut short (20 episodes only) for concerns about "too much violence". Hasbro didn't agree with that decision either, but the TV station was very serious about it.
- The Cybertron toy line will be fully released in Germany (i.e. anything that's available in Europe will also come out in Germany). All size classes will come out (not sure about Supreme Starscream, see below for why).
- High end collectors' items are not considered viable for the German market. As a result, 20th Anniversary Prime might not come out here.
- The movie toyline is already in production. Some people at Hasbro Germany have even seen animatics of the movie.
- The Hasbro Germany guy described the aesthetics of the movie characters as a "quantum leap" as compared to what we've been used to so far, but also admitted that some old school fans might be disappointed.
- There might be a sneak preview of the movie toyline in Hasbro Germany's offices later this year. No photos will be allowed.
- Hasbro Germany hope that the movie line will re-ignite interest in Transformers in Germany.
- Hasbro consider LEGO their biggest competitor for the "Boys Toys" market at least in Europe/Germany.
- Hasbro Germany appear to be VERY eager to cooperate with the fandom. They're willing to participate in contests, and also consider asking fans for help with background information for media coverage.
- As far as Hasbro Germany's PR department is concerned, the live-action TF movie will be the first live action movie based on a toy line. When I mentioned the "Masters of the Universe" movie from the 80s, he said he'll blissfully ignore that one.
- There's one more thing I won't discuss in here - but if it does indeed pan out, Hasbro Germany will earn a lot of respect for their efforts.
