Feeling creative? Why not submit some work to
Transforce 2007's Kitbash competition or the Fan Cinema? If we had any artistic flair we'd do both, but the only flair we have is a 6" WWE toy. Here's Paul Canon's lowdown :-
OK, so who out there want to make something for the fan cinema or kitbash competition? It's time to start getting organised.
Need a bit of inspiration, then check out the new events section of the Transforce web site http://www.transforce.org.uk/2007events.htm

Seibertron have a translation of the interview with Shoji Kawamori featured in the lastest edition of Hobby Magazine in Japan. The interview covers Masterpiece Starscream and the Kiss-Play toys. Some of the key points are:
Kiss_Play
Tomy-Takara plans to market Transformers to adults for a while and not
to children. We've been witnessing this already as Takara created the
Binaltechs, Binaltech Astericks, Masterpieces, and now KISS Players.
Female figurines are popular in Japan among male adults. Tomy-Takara
jumped on the bandwagon and included them in their KISS products. A
radio show of KISS now airs in Japan.
Takara did not mention how long they will continue this campaign, but
hinted that we will see other KISS Transformers released in the near
future. Takara revealed that both the KISS and Masterpiece series are
doing very well.
It is not known whether Tomy-Takara plans to release additional series in the near future.
Starscream:
Takara pretty much gave Shoji the reigns to make changes where he saw
fit. The mold changes were made (as you can guess) to make the jet mode
more complete. Some of these include (as you know) part of the fuselage
on Starscream's arms, shoulders, and hips.
The tail stabilizers were moved from his legs to his hips to create the appearance of a samurai wearing two swords.
Shoji originally wanted to make the robot parts completely hidden on
the undercarriage of the jet. He was not happy that the forearms and
chest were visible during the alt mode. He also was not satisfied with
the head. He played around with designs to cover these parts up but
then scrapped the idea because it would have sacrificed the robot mode
too much.

In there last Quarterly Report (released in August so this news story is a bit late I know), Activision stated that their upcoming Transformers Movie is still on course for a concurrent release with the July 2007 film. They also re-confirmed that they have global rights, excluding Japan, to develop console, hand-held and PC games on the Transformers brand, not just the Movie and that the Movie tie in will be the first game.
Here is an extract :-
"
we signed an agreement with Hasbro Properties Group granting us
the global rights, excluding Japan, to develop console, hand-held, and PC games
based on Hasbro's "Transformers" brand. We anticipate releasing the first game
concurrently with the July 2007 movie release of the live action "Transformers"
film from DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures."

As you've probably noticed,
Transformers have gained much more main stream coverage in the last 9 months than for many years. This coverage and the anticipation for next years
Transformers film is starting to show when you look at google trends. A quick comparison of
Transformers to Star Trek and CSI over the last year, shows that the TFs have seen a substantial rise in searches, especially between July and August where it passed both those other search terms. The trend ends with Transformer searches in decline, but still significantly higher than in the
last two years. If the pattern for the year so far continues, and taking into account the expected surge of searches as the Movies release date gets closer, then by the time it hits the big screen, Transformers my well have over taken Star Trek
