As promised we can now bring you some figures on how the Transformers movie performed at the UK box office over its opening weekend. The good news is that Transformers debuted at number 2 in the UK box office charts taking in £8.6 million (that's over $17.2 million in US money) a figure that would normally have meant that the film would have debut at number 1. Here's a quick round down of the top three films.
1. The Simpsons - £13 Million ($26 Million)
2. Transformers - £8.6 Million ($17.2 Million)
3. Harry Potter - £TBC
When comparing Transformers to The Simpsons remember that the Simpsons opened three full days ahead of Transformers within the UK (due to advance screenings) and is only 80 minutes long where as transformers is 2 hrs 24 mins), meaning that cinema's can have two showings of the Simpsons whilst showing Transformers only once. The Simpsons also opened in 40 more screens across the UK.
All-in-all, the opening weekend for Transformers performed extremely well, and was originally predictted as debuting at number 3 in the charts behind both The Simpsons and Harry Potter. In the United States, The Simpsons also debut at number one, beating the Transformers opening weekend, but not the opening three days that Transformers was on general release.
Thanks to Paramount Pictures for above figures and for all the help that they have given us over the last year.

The Hasbro panel at BotCon was a no-photograph event, but lots of images have come out of SDCC, see the two previous news stories.
This story covers not only the panel shots of the Transformers Movie Battle for the Allspark toys, but also the Transformers Animated toys, which can also be seen during the cartoon clip from Transformers Animated. You can see the images on TFormers here.
The gallery, from page 4, shows the actual Transformers Animated Hardcopies (well they look like hardcopies) in the Hasbro booth
TFormers have images of some of the Transformers Movie toys which were shown off at Comic-con as well as previously at BotCon. The Transformers Movie Battle for the Allspark toys can be seen here, and for full gallery of Nightwatch Optimus Prime look no further than our Transformers Toy section.
The video which was shown during the Hasbro Transformers Animated panel can now be seen on E-News International or by using the player below. The clip is different from the one shown at BotCon and shows various characters including Grimlock, Swoop and Arcee.

We can confirm that Nightwatch Optimus Prime is in store at Argos from today, as we picked ours up this morning. He costs £39.99 (that's $80 US!). We received a free lenticular Transformers Movie Bumblebee poster with our purchase. The poster is 18.5 x 27 inches and is flat packed on cardboard. More on this in a minute.
Edit Having just looked over the box of Nightwatch Optimus Prime, I noticed something rather interesting. The box is not the huge multi-lingual box that he UK toys have been released in over the last few year. Its not even a Canadian box, but instead something new. The box is for the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand only. As such, all of the writing is only in English, the full Leader Class heading can be found on the side of the box rather than just Leader, the full Automorph technology story appears on the side of the box rather than the just "Faster Version" in 12 languages. Is this the start of UK toys being repacked and the UK Transformers market splitting back away from the rest of Europe to join with Australia and New Zealand only? If this is the case, this could have a massive effect on the UK market changing not only what toys are released, but also when. Australia and New Zealand in recent years, have often seen toys released much earlier than Europe, as well as the full range.
