In an interview with MTV,
IDW Editor-in-Chief Chris Mowry has revealed a little more regarding the five part Transformers: Destiny series that IDW will be releasing. The key points of the article are yet further confirmations that both Soundwave and Arcee will appear within the live action movie, as well as other fan-favourites, and that "The Fallen" will indeed be a character and not just a reference to the returning Decepticons.
"[We're going to] explore the background of The Fallen — the main villain of the
movie — as well as expand on the ‘Reign of Starscream’ story that we’re doing
and tie everything in to what this next movie is going to be,” explained writer
Chris Mowry, who partners on the book with artist Alex Milne. “The next movie
starts out with just tons of action and there’s obviously going to be a lot of
questions, so we’re hoping to answer some of those beforehand.”
At the
end of “Transformers,” audiences were treated to a grand speech from Optimus
Prime issuing the call for his off-world Autobots to head to Earth. We also saw
Starscream blast into space after the defeat of his leader Megatron. So where
did he go? Mowry’s “Reign of Starscream” miniseries — currently on shelves —
answers that question and leads directly into “Destiny.”
“We’re
definitely taking every character that we can from the sequel,” said Mowry. “So
you’ll see some Sector 7 involvement and how they developed into a new group
that will be introduced. The same thing with some of the new characters, we’ll
explain how they get to Earth. Because like I said, [the sequel] starts out with
this giant battle so people will be wondering ‘Hey, where did that guy come
from?’”
While Mowry has yet to have direct contact with “Transformers:
Revenge of the Fallen” screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, he counts
himself as one of the lucky few to have a complete script. That’s important to
keep his story in continuity, Mowry stated, as well as to ensure he’s not
stepping on the film’s plotlines. “We had this really ambitious script done
where there were a lot of fan-favorites in there. [But] some of them are going
to be making an appearance in the second movie so they asked us not to use
those, which is understandable.”
Two of those fan-favorite characters are
Soundwave and Arcee, both of whom find themselves recruited for the sequel.
“[Starscream]’s more of like a military guy. So in ‘Destiny’ we’re going to see
a lot more involvement with [the backgrounds of] Prime and Megatron, [as well
as] Cybertron’s history and how that affects the present day. It all centers
around the plot of the sequel which I obviously can’t get into. It’ll be
explained but you’ll see a lot more expansion of their characters and their
motivations and their destinies, if you will."

TFormers are running a story they picked up on at the SDCC involving a possible Revoltech release for Grimlock and Soundwave.
When asked about any future Transformers characters in Kaiyodo's
Revoltech line, Organic Hobby hinted Soundwave
and Grimlock in a casual conversation at this past
weekend's San Diego Comic-Con 2008.
OF cause this could just be characters they'd like to do, but stay tuned for more information when it comes in.

Rumours are flying due to an of the cuff comment made by Roberto Orci on the Don Murphy message boards regarding a trailer for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Roberto Orci, stated "maybe -- or maybe in front of EAGLE EYE... who knows." when asked if a trailer for the Transformers sequal would be shown during Fringe (a TV series he is working on).
Eagle Eye is a Shia LaBeouf thriller set to hit theatres in the US in September. Any trailers at this point would be teaser trailers, and like those for the original would probably not feature any in-movie footage.

It has now been revealed that when Shia had his recent drink-drive accident from which he required extensive surgery on his left hand, keeping him off the set of Transformers Return of the Fallen for one month, he had a passenger in the car at the time which was none other than his Transformers co-star the 23-year old Australian actress Isabel Lucas. Lucas was treated for minor injuries at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in L.A.

Simon Furman has updated his blog with some information regarding the main story that will be published in Titan Magazines UK exclusive Transformers comic. The story, a stand-alone story, is called Dark Spark and is written to bridge the gap between the Aftermath story arc and the Twilight's Last Gleaming arc. Here are some quotes from the blog.
"It’s called ‘Dark
Spark’ (I know, I know!) and it centers around the return of a
character many might have thought gone for good .... [it will] define this second batch of 13 UK issues. It’s also more
character led than other recent issues, which I do like to do from time
to time .... If you’ve read issue #14
(’Aftermath pt1′), you’ll have some idea already where the ’spark’ of
‘Dark Spark’ comes from, but who gets it and what it does to them may
surprise you. And it’s all connected to what’s happening (and trust me,
it’s all bad) to Earth. The story sees the debut of one Decepticon and
paves the way for that of four Autobots. And that’s all I’m gonna tell
you, except that issue #16 hits UK stores on September 11th and the art
is by Jeremy Tiongson".

Looks like Shia LaBeouf's troubles with the law are continuing again today as he's now been arrested for a Drink Driving offence, involving a road accident. This is the third time he has been in trouble with the law, unless you count the run-in with Barricade, though shouldn't effect shooting of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
The BBC report
Transformers and Indiana Jones star Shia LaBeouf has been arrested on
suspicion of drink-driving after a road accident in Hollywood, US
authorities have said.
Mr LaBeouf was the driver of a vehicle which crashed in the early hours
of Sunday morning, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.
The actor and his passenger were hurt in the collision, but it is unclear how serious their injuries were.
A spokesman said police officers arrested the 22-year-old at the scene.
The incident took place at 0300 local time (1100 BST).
Mr LaBeouf, who has not yet been charged, recently starred in
Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull alongside Harrison
Ford.
He also starred in the recent Transformers movie.
Last November he was arrested for refusing to leave a pharmacy
in Chicago, blaming the incident on "complete and utter insanity".
Charges were later dropped.
He later told chat show host David Letterman: "Drinking and driving is one thing, but drinking and shopping - it's just as bad."
In April, charges against him for breaking a smoking ban were dismissed by a Californian judge.

We'd like to apologise to everyone, especially Jon Slater, for not posting hie news story yesterday regarding Nicktoons showing the two final episodes of Transformers Animated from Season 2, A Bridge to Close yesterday in an hour long special.
Bad timing meant I was at work from 07:30 to 19:30 yesterday, so didn't have a chance to read the emails, by which time it was too late.
Jon mentioned that Digi-guide only updated with the listing yesterday.
