Transformers Toy News

The Allspark.com report that there are "three new auctions have appeared on Asian auction site TaoBao.com. Three auctions for repackaged Cybertron Scouts on Generations packaging (Like the Mini-Cons before them, the card backs do not actually say "Generations", however they are the same red as the Generations card backs, and not the yellow of Hunt for the Decepticons or Reveal the Shield). The auctions are for Undermine, Wreckloose, and Backstop.

For those of you that may not think this newsworthy, as these toys have had multiple card backs before, a closer look at Backstop may be in order. Instead of purple and mustard, the toy is now gray and blue!

Undermine
Wreckloose
Backstop"

Transformers Toy NewsAn auction ended a few hours ago on Yahoo Japan for a boxed unreleased Generation Two Megatron and Starscream figure.  The auction ended for 78,000yen, roughly £600, which is considerable less than the 332,300yen, £2,500, that the last auction on Yahoo Japan ended for on the 23rd September which shows that you can still pick up these rare figures for competitive prices.

Transformers Movie News

In an interview with LA Times.com, Michael Bay talks up the upcoming Transformers Dark of the Moon film whilst at the same time admitting that Transformers Revenge of the Fallen was weak and that he has learnt a lot from the experience.

“Look, the movie had some good things in it and it was entertaining and it did very well, but it also failed in some key ways. I learned from it. And now with this third movie we’re going back to basics and I absolutely believe this is going to be a much better film than the second one."

Transformers Animated

On the 11th Jan, KOToys.com posted images of a new knock-off Transformer that is being made be by CHMS, Transformers Animated Arcee.  The toy will be released using the Japanese colour scheme on a reproduced card backing.  Later they will be recolouring the toy as the Paradon Medic and, most likely, other recolours.  You can view 6 images below a lot more over on the KOToys.com foums.

In the past KOToys had been known for stating that many Chinese factories that reverse toy moulds to produce knoco-offs were finding it hard to reverse the Animated figures and produce quality reproductions. That no longer seems to be the case.

Transformers Product ListingsAmazon have updated their site with a full product description and cover for the upcoming Transformers Vault book.  Personally, I pre-ordered the book several months ago as I've been informed, by some reliable sources, that its going to contain some very cool stuff that hasn't been seen before.

Transformers The Vault

Product Description
Officially licensed by Hasbro, Transformers Vault: The Complete Transformers Universe reveals, for the first time ever, a comprehensive history of the transformers. Fans now have a hands-on guide to the epic battle between the Autobots and decepticons, including the toys, the original animated series, comics, collectibles, and merchandise, as well as animated and live-action feature films.

This heavily illustrated book features never-before-seen images from the Hasbro archives, seven interactive pieces of memorabilia, and an acetate slipcase with a unique "morphing" effect. Five visually driven chapters go behind the scenes of everyone's favorite robots in disguise, featuring early animation sketches, interviews with creators, patents, prototypes, action-figure designs that never made it to production, vintage packaging art, and development art from the films.

About the Author
Pablo Hidalgo is the author of G.I. Joe vs. Cobra: The Essential Guide. He is the managing editor for Starwars.com and lives in San Francisco. Hasbro is one of the largest and most successful makers of toys and board games in the world. Hasbro was involved in the development of all three live-action transformers ransformers films.

Transformers Toy NewsJapanese rakuten store digitamin have posted a new product listing for a new official Transformers combiner figure from Kabaya.  The figure comes with some gum, like many of the Kabaya figures, is called Gaia Cross and is made up of 6 individual robots Jet (a jet fighter), Flame (a fire truck), Cosmo (a space shuttle), Stream (a boat), Crash (a drill) and Launcher (a tank).

The figures are described as being a homage to the Transformers Victory character Land Cross (Multiforce) which does appear to be the case when you look at how they combine.  The listing suggests that, much like Multiforce, the toys will be able to combine in pairs as well as all 6 together.

The figure is set for release on the 6th April 2011 priced at 210yen per figure.  You can view a picture below

Transformers Convention News
Auto Assembly 2011 and Auto Assembly 2012 Major Updates!

Things have been quiet for the last few months from the Auto Assembly camp, but with the start of a new year it's time for us to make our mark with a barrage of big announcements to take us into 2011 and beyond...

While many of you are now starting to make your initial plans about attending one or more of the Transformers conventions that is taking place this year (and we hope that Auto Assembly is one of them), we are proud to be able to announce that we have been working overtime to be able to announce a massive update to our guest line-up for Auto Assembly 2011...

But that's not all. While many of you are still thinking about 2011, we are pleased to announce that we have confirmed the first details for Auto Assembly 2012 and we believe that we are the first Transformers convention to do so! You can find details of the date, venue and much more on our latest news update on Youtube here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASn1s5cE0ks

The video also has the full updates on Auto Assembly 2011 and this is one video you do NOT want to miss!!

For those of you who have already booked for Auto Assembly 2011, we are working through a backlog at the moment and emails that we are trying to deal with which we hope to have sorted shortly. Our committee head has had to deal with a number of unexpected personal issues over the last few months including losing his job which has meant that Auto Assembly has had to take a back seat for a short while but things are starting to return to normal for us now.

As part of this, we are still running behind with despatching the AA2010 Non-Attendee Packages. These should be shipping in a couple of weeks once we have finalised the original sketches that will be part of these.

Anyway, for those of you who want to attend Auto Assembly 2011, tickets are available now from our website. Ticket prices are £50 for adults and £38 for children, students and senior citizens, with under 5s admitted free. One day tickets are available for the Saturday or Sunday (although these will NOT get you into the Friday or Saturday evening programmes) and these cost £30 for adults, £21 for children, students or senior citizens and under 5's as always are free. Family tickets will be available shortly.

The convention is taking place over the weekend of 12th - 14th August 2011 at the Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre, Birmingham, England. Tickets for Auto Assembly 2012 will go on sale later this year.

For more details on the convention, to see a full list of all the guests and activities taking place over the weekend, or to book your tickets, visit the website at www.autoassembly.org.uk

We hope to see you all in August!

Transformers Movie News

I received my copy of the latest issue of Toy News Magazine today which focuses on the upcoming British Toy Fair which will have a strong Transformers presences.  The issues contains some information on some of the tie-in merchandise including more plush Transformers, costumes, bikes, stress balls, posters and electronic gadgets aimed for children that will be available this summer along with a Transformers themed cover, all of which you can view below.  The magazine also lists, under the details of one of the licenses, the Autobot cast as being Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide, Sideswipe and Optimus Prime.

The magazines editorial notes Transformers as the number one movie license for 2011 and they also cover the Hasbro - Turner deal that will lead Transformers Prime to air in the UK calling it the a "hotly tipped" show.  In terms of the items/license listed within the magazines, they are:

  • Sambro have a license for Transformers Dark of the Moon.  Sambro produce stationary, arts and crafts, bags, candy, homeware (so mugs, clocks etc) and scooters.  They may be showing some of their items along with the Marvel properties for Spider-Man, Captain America and Thor at the British Toy Fair.
