Universe - Jolt - Information
On the 15th May 2008 we recevied out loose, complete, Unreleased Transformers Universe Smokescreen and Jolt toy from a seller in the USA. The figure, which is a re-colour of Armada Hot Shot, always appealed to us, and we had attempted to bid on an auction for the toy a few years earlier.
At OTFCC 2004 Hasbro confimed that a Battle in the Box 2-pack woudl be sold through Target Exclusive featuring Smokescreen, with Jolt, Vs Drench, with Windsheer. We were also looking at bidding on a Drench auction at the same time, but the figure was slightly recoloured and used as an exclusive toy at BotCon 2008 (Drench that is).

Universe - Jolt - Toy Review
Moonbug is probably one of a few people who actually liked the original Transformers Armada toy, although the figure had no shoulders. We were luck enough to purchase one of the Japanese collectors magasines which showed the original prototype of the figure, which was quiet different, and more advanced then the final released toy, yet Moonbug still liked the yellow Armada kid favorite.
The Transformers Universe line, which was made up of recolours so that Hasbro could make money from the long-time fans, who'd buy anything, was one of the better looking and more popular Transformers Universe figures. Unfortunatley the figure was pulled from release, although it did make ti through the final production stage. So far (May 2008) no finalised Boxed versions of the Battle in the Box set have been seen, but the Universe Smokescreen toys could be stockpiled in a Hasbro factory somewhere, and may make an appearance at a Transformers Convention in the future - who knows. Until then you'll have to stick with looking at the few images there are of the figure on the web, something which has been increased with this Transformers toy gallery.
We really like the finalised Smokescreen toy, and we also are fans of the Minicon Jolt mold, but this version of Jolt is a little dull. He features darker red then the original, and feels like he is made from a thicker, better quality plastic, but is missing the detail of having his face painted. If the face was painted on the figure it would look more like a finalised version, as it is Jolt looks like an unreleased toy.
