- Profile: Optimus Prime is the largest, strongest and wisest of all Autobots. Feels his role is the protection of all life, including Earth-life. Fights unceasingly to defeat the Decepticons. Splits into three autonomous modules: 1) Optimus Prime... the brain center known as the Commander; 2) Roller, the Autobot scout car... a spy who operates up to 1200 miles away; and 3) Autobot Headquarters... the combat deck equipped with a versatile mechanic/artillery robot. Injury to one module is felt by the other two.

Generation 1 - Optimus Prime - Information
Optimus Prime is the leader of the heroic Autobots and is known as Convoy (????) in Japan. The original Optimus Prime toy was taken from Takara's Diaclone toy line, and used in the innitial releases of the Transformers toy line.
Optimus Prime has since become a fundemental part of the Transformers history, with well over 100 different variations of the character in toy form. The original Optimus Prime mold has be re-released several times over the years.

Generation 1 - Optimus Prime - Toy Review
The Optimus Prime toy you will see on our site is our original Optimus Prime toy which we were given in the mid 1980's. The toy is suffering from a lot of play-damage, including a broken bumper and broken joints on the smoke-stacks and head, which mean they can move.
We owned a few of the Optimus Prime toys as kids, but only kept our original one. We have have multiple oportunities to by a nice original or re-issue of the toy, and one day we may do so.
The Optimus Prime toy can be seen as the "base form" on which all Transformers should be judged. The toy transforms from a large Truck mode, complete with trailer and various accessories, into a great robot form, which was highly articulated for the 1970's and 1980's.
Optimus Prime uses three base colours, which represent freedom and democracy, red, white and blue. It is hard to find any Transformers fan which does not like the original Optimus Prime toy or character, and like Soundwave and Dinobot, is one of a few toys which non die-hard Transformers fans remember as having as children.
