The Fun Facts products are produced by a subsidiary of Dorling Kinderlsey, and are aimed at a younger reader then the other Transformers books we have covered on the site. We took this into account when looking through the Transformers Fun Facts pack by Dorling Kindersley.
The pack is deisnged by Nick Avery, written by Simon Jowett and edited by Elizabeth Noble. The pack contains various features, such as Personal, Information, Puzzles and Extras. The first section, Personal, is where the owner can record their own details, contact information of their friends, school information and timetables as well as Transformers Movie information (as it's a Transformers Movie based product) such as When you saw the movie, favorite character / part. There are some nice images of the Transformers characters throughout the book, and the diary section uses a different character for each month as well as featuring a nice image of the human cast of Transformers (which is the first time we'd seen an image of them all together). Their is also a birthday page to remember those important dates.
The second section of the Transformers Fun Facts is Information, which includes an introduction to the Transformers Movie, information on all of the characters, including Spike and Mikaela (the Transformers Fun Facts actually contains more characters than the Transformers Movie Guide book). The full list consits of Spike, Mikaela, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Ratchet, Jazz, Megatron, Scorponok, Frenzy, Starscream (there is no image of his robot mode though), Brawl (note the name is simply that, not Decepticon Brawl or Devastator), Blackout, Bonecrusher and Barricade.
Next up is a fold out game which has a Transformers Movie poster on the reverse side. The Puzzles area is next, containing the usual puzzles you'll find in an Activity / Puzzle book and in annuals. These include ID the Autobot, Spot the difference, word search, one of a kind, various maze games as well as a memory game. This is just an example of what you'll find, as well as the answers (which appear at the end of the puzzle section).
The final section is the Extra's sectionm which contains two sheets of Transformers Movie stickers (robot and vehicle mode), a door handler, 2 bookmarks (a Transformers logo and an Optimus Prime version) as well as various pages of note paper, for keeping track of your Transformers collection, this website's URL .. or anything else you want to write down.
For the age-range the Transformers Fun Facts is aimed at, we can see it proving very popular. It's full of content, from profiles through games and stickers, and is a fraction of the price of the larger Transformers books. Transformers collectors will like this for the images, the groupshot of the cast is pretty cool and Transformers Stickers are always popular with fans. We'd give this book a 4/5 for the age range it's aimed at. Older fans may also be interested in picking it up as a nice bit of Transformers merchandise.
