Ironhide -Roll out!
I've been wanting to post this for a while, but the old board didnt allow the pics and well i'm too lazy to resize them! (They are not THAT big!)
So... I like Mitsibushi Delica's, particularly the old boxy "L300" 4x4 ones (I've had 4 of them) What's a Mitsibushi Delica that I hear you say? Well this one is an 1989 Manual with a 2.5TD engine like a Pajero/Shogun (Go anywhere, but not break the speed limit spec!) Here is a pic: As I bought it: ![]() It was pretty standard (I think!, its hard to be sure on an import!) apart from a loud side exit exhaust, (which I wasnt much of a fan of tbh). ![]() Inside it was OK but pretty base model (and dog haired). ![]() But I was lucky and this came up cheap local-ish and it gave me a (nearly new!)standard exhaust and some interior upgrades: ![]() I was pretty happy at this point and I rocked it around like this for a while: ![]() I managed to nab a ladder (they look better with Ladders!) and as that went on I noticed some rust and did the wrong(right?) thing and poked it.Rust, rust, rust and more rust under 1cm thick filler on the back arch... So I treated it whilst wondering what to do with it.... And whilst pondering this fitted 2" lift shackles - as you do!! (I'm no pro mechanic so the amount of work to sort this rust was a bit beyond me) ![]() Then this thing borked itself: Not that surprising really looking at it.. ![]() And the van was off the road whilst I got another from Hong-Kong.. (this is story but surfice to say 2.5 months later I had the correct one fitted..) I also took the time to do some other stuff I'd been thinking of doing for a while - as you can see this doesnt really look 'right' does it? ![]() I've always liked the standard Shogun alloys (particularly when painted) so I did this: (Tyres are Khumo KL71's in 31/1050) ![]() Then (and this is the bit you will all be interested in!) I started to treat areas of rust around the van and got a bit carried away: ![]() Luckily I had kind of had a plan....: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So I made my 'homage' to a certain G1 character happen! ![]() ![]() With a mates Olive drab "urban survival" look one: ![]() ![]() I'm really tempted to add a stripe and the rust still needs treating (but I've massively massively slowed it down) but really I'm just happy to be driving it around! And yes its taxed and insured!! ![]() At a car show: ![]() In my windscreen ![]() ![]() Oh and its a satin Red I've painted it, I liked it like that and I feel it gives it a bit more of a cartoony feel ![]() Wraithchild666 reborn I used to be normal like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.. |

RE: Ironhide -Roll out!
Thats just plain awesome, you need some stripes though
The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done. |
