Value of Energon,Armada,Galaxy Force etc
Hi Guys,
I recently listed a few MOC/MOSC Energon items on ebay so I'd hit my quota and try to help keep me in food/energon for a little longer! I barely got any hits on MOSC/MOC Energon items and they barely made £1 each! Is this just a sign of everyone belt-tightening, ebay being quiet or is this actually what these toys are worth? I've also got some MIB/MOSC Galaxy Force, Cybertron, Micron Legend and even Rid that I'd be looking to release but if this the value of them I'd be better off just throwing them away (after all the usual ebay hassle), it's just not worth selling them. Come on guys give me some hope, someone must like Energon? Would I better off grouping them into a single auction and selling off in lots? I'll be concentrating on Star Wars over the next couple of weeks but I'd really like to hear your thoughts on this x |

RE: Value of Energon,Armada,Galaxy Force etc
They are worth money. I've made good cash on almost all my Armada and Energon sales.
List the item at the price you want to sell it for (minimum). That way if it sells then great, if not then just keep relisting it on free listing weekends until someone bites - and they will. You may also want to review how you present your auctions - text, photos, etc, if you are not getting any/many bids. HamStar Customs - Mighty Muggs, Vinyl & More. Not currently accepting commissions, will update when open for orders again. |

RE: Value of Energon,Armada,Galaxy Force etc
Some great tips there Minion, thanks. I've been starting at 99p but I think I'll just list at a good starting price and see what happens. I'm not that good at taking pics but I try my best lol.
I think the bulk idea is also a good one but I think I'll keep the transformers til last and get rid of the Star Wars stuff first, then I've got a ton of PC stuff and then start on the Transformers again with PVC's, SCFs then Armada, Energon etc Thanks guys |

RE: Value of Energon,Armada,Galaxy Force etc
Hey guys I'd really appreciate if you could give these two auctions a quick glance and see if I'm doing anything obvious wrong? They both end today and have had zero bids
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251032272996 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251032273044 I'll be spending most of the Easter break opening boxes and doing pics and inventory so I can get a list up on here. Should be great fun! |

7.99 for postage is steep. completed listings for energon perceptor are sparce but i reckon you are looking at about £5 for the bots + post. your 99p + 7.99 probably puts your auction at top money already.

Yea the £7.99 delivery will put some bidders off. If you're going to charge that much, you need to justify the postage service getting used.

RE: Value of Energon,Armada,Galaxy Force etc
I think you've got a fair point and £5 is probably realistic for the bots and honestly I have overestimated the postage but that's because I've lost out several times on previous items. However, having got better estimates from the last lot of items I just posted I think I will put the postage down to about £5-6.
It's not the weight on these its the dimensions that I've been screwed on before, it would probably be easier to dump the packaging and list/post them as loose but that just feels wrong? Last week a buyer won 6 Energon toys off me (at a pound each!) and asked to combine shipping, I quoted him £20 and he still said I'd overcharged him (only person that has btw). I think £26 for 6 MOC/MOSC Energone figures was a bargain really but maybe I'm wrong? This is part of the reason why I asked if it would be better to list them as lots/bulk because I'd save on packaging and one parcel is much easier/cheaper for me to deal with. But then I might miss bids where a buyer only wants one of the items. What do you think? |

RE: Value of Energon,Armada,Galaxy Force etc
I'd feel conned if you asked me for £20 postage. I've sent large boxed TF's to Australia for less!
You are basically using postage to bolster your item value (which is against ebay rules, whether you agree with it or not!) One way may be to make it clear that you do not combine postage, but that will also put off some buyers! My advice is to look closely at the postage costs, be realistic with them. Up the starting bid for the bots a bit (look at finished auctions) And accept that ebay/paypal will screw you out of 15%-20% + of the money you get. RE: Value of Energon,Armada,Galaxy Force etc
But would you feel 'conned' to have bought 6 Energon deluxe for less than £30 shipped? I appreciate your comment but I resent the implication that I've 'conned' anyone. The postage prices may have been too high but they were CLEARLY marked in the auctions.
I've got some better pricing from a Parcelforce flyer that I picked up at the PO this week but does anyone have a good link for Post Office/Recorded Delivery pricing for the smaller lighter items? How does everyone else estimate their postage costs (without losing money!)? LOL, don't even get me started on the whole Ebay/Paypal fees thing, it's a monopoly and they've got us all by the smalls! I try not to think about it It did remind of another questions though, does anyone use the extra listing options and do you have any genuine experience of them adding value to your listings? I mean things like Supersize images, gallery plus, all that extra shizzle ;Dx |

RE: Value of Energon,Armada,Galaxy Force etc
I've not sold on EBay for a while, but I just used one picture, as the extra it cost at the time for additional pictures put me off.
For postage prices I generally weigh things, then add a little on for packaging weight, and then use the Royal Mail postage calculator. Recently however when I've sold things I've gave an estimate based on weight and then checked it on the Royal Mail scales at work. Sometimes for something specialist, you need to just list it when the intended audience can see it. IE here, TFW2005 or anwhere that there's a UK base. That way you can list things at the price you'd like for them, but be ready for some haggling. Just be up front that postage price will depends on weight and how it's sent. 360 MiniCons and counting. To be honest the £7.99 shipping would have put me off bidding and if I did bid I would have messaged you up front to ask about combined shipping if you didnt list it in your text. I'm none too expert on the 'modern' lines but I'd imagine 6 energon deluxes could be shipped for around £10-12 max. I'm not having a go, you asked for opinion and I gave it! Don't worry I know you're not having a go, I'm here for honest advice and that's what I'm getting so it's all good. Thanks Phill good advice again, I'm starting to think that ebay might just be a bit quiet at the moment. I've done some searching the other day and a lot of stuff seems to be going unsold and they seem to be listed at reasonable prices. I've relisted the Energon toys again with a starting price of £5 and £3.99 for Special delivery (This is based on the postage cost for a MASK vehicle that I posted yesterday). Let's see if I get any biters! I've located most of the boxes for the Energon, Armada, Galaxy Force etc so I should have a list up for SG in a few days x |
